Triche vs. Waiters- Manhattan Jaspers
Unfortunately, SNY decided that the Wagner/UConn game was more important, so I didn't get to watch the Orange lay the smackdown on the Jaspers. Judging from the AP recap and the comments here, though, it appears to have been the dunkfest we were all expecting. Let's get right to the stat lines (Full Box Score).
Triche- MIN FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A OREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
| 24 | 5-12 | 2-5 | 0-0 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 12 |
Waiters-
| 19 | 6-11 | 1-4 | 4-6 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 17 |
Statistically pretty much even, though credit to Waiters for an assist/TO ratio over 2:1 and the 3 steals. I'm also disappointed that Triche suffered the same issue as Waiters did against Fordham; no FT attempts. Not having watched the game, I don't know how much opportunity there was to press the action in the lane, but I'd like for the 2 guard (whoever it may be) to apply a bit of pressure. I'm also a bit disappointed in the relative lack of rebounding from Triche compared to the last game. But Triche is one of those guys that rebounds a lot of his own misses, so shooting better overall from the field will bring down his rebounding numbers a bit.
All in all, Triche played a decent game and Waiters didn't do anything spectacular to pry my vote away from Triche. Cast yours below.

It doesn't matter who starts.
Shouldn’t both start over scoop who had no points? No.
We have 4 great guards, who all play equal minutes, and whoever has the hot hand gets a few more than the others. As long as we are winning this shouldn’t be a discussion. and it certainly doesn’t merit a fanpost every game.
Scoop will show his value in the BE and against teams like Florida
Where a loose handle or playing too fast will kill you. He is still our only true point guard as we sit here today.
I'm inclined to agree
This debate is kind of a non-starter for me, like Christmas starting over CJ Fair. I think ezcuse said this well the other day, (paraphrasing) doesn’t really matter who starts, more important who finishes. And I think Boeheim will ride the hot hand this year and/or make substitutions based on matchups.
I’m happy with Waiters coming off the bench. And I’m going to go out on a bit of a limb here and predict that he ends up being our second-leading scorer (behind KJ)… off the bench.

Against all but the but the best pressure D's or ballhawki PG's ....
The combo of Triche and Waiters on the floor may be our most dangerous.
Big, strong, quick, fast …. NBA bodies that a lot of college teams will struggle to contain.
When we get teams in foul trouble
Telling Triche and Waiters to go to the rack could be unstoppable with players in foul trouble be conservative. Dion dares undersized guards to stop him.
