DC??
not sure if i approve.. doesn’t he get the Derrick Coleman’s son enough?? DJC?? DC2? DC(whateverhisnumberendsup)
Also, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was really worried that it might come down to
him not wanting to have to keep saying, “No, no relation” about 14 times a week for his college career. Let me just echo with my own WOOOOOO000OO00TTT
F#&% the Big East
Maybe He's DC's

I didn't know he was
6’10 280 lbs. Who in the Big East or ACC is going to move him from under the rim? Solid!
SU 97
Not a bad day
Got the recruit we wanted.
WVU leaving the Big East—speed up our exit???
UConn in jeopardy of not being able to compete in hoops?
We are about 4-5 pieces of good news away of being even with the sporting gods after the Syracuse sports debacle that was 2005 to 2008.
Dictated, but not read.
He said he was choosing Cuse the entire time...
Why didn’t he schedule some trips to some nice cities just for the free vaca? hawaii, southern cal, maybe miami
by PointBlankPeriodPeriod on Oct 25, 2011 2:54 PM EDT reply actions
Because it's not free
Pretty sure recruits have to pay their way to these places. Parents aren’t footing the bill for you to go to Hawaii unless you’re really considering it.

really? those schools don't cover cost of travel etc? gotta wonder how kids make so many visits then...
considering many are from poor families

I guess I was wrong
Just looked up the rule. http://www.lipscombsports.com/media/graphics/compliance/officialvisitrulessummary.pdf
Looks like the athlete can go for free, but the parents might have to pay their own way (I just skimmed through it quickly). I’m surprised more kids don’t take advantage of that, actually.

I'm sure a team like USC who didn't have a shot at DJC
Wasn’t going to agree to pay for him to visit.
Probably True
And I would assume there’s some limit on how many visits a school can offer. Otherwise big budget schools would have a tremendous advantage.

Coleman commitment moves Syracuse up to #10 in ESPN’s 2012 recruiting rankings. Not like it matters.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
Because people on ESPN aren't real
Just images Disney wants you to see.

Too bad we won't be playing
G-town anymore. Would be nice to kick the hell out of them a few more times.
SU 97
Oliver Luck is not impressed.
I heard he would rather have Mike Jones any day of the week than DJC.

Oliver Luck
Would trade Matt Gorman for DeJuan Coleman every day of the week.

make that Dejaun, unless he has a twin sister named Dejuana who would
like to come and bolster the woman’s program.
and she is 6'6", 350

I Wonder
If playing Duke and UNC in the regular season and seeing SU ranked so high this preseason helped this decision? I know he said he has known for a month but maybe it reassured his choice instead of making him unsure.

Based on his comments
After the announcment, I think it came down to he just felt more comfortable at Syracuse. Maybe he wanted to be closer to home. Maybe the players and staff at Syracuse put him more at ease. On a basketball level, Kentucky and Syracuse are essentially equal; title contenders, great fan support, great facilities. Sure, UK might have more titles or the ubiquitous “tradition”, but I’m not sure how much it matters to an 18 year old that Kentucky won 5 titles back in the 60’s under a racist head coach who refused to allow black players on his team. I agree with a those who said that they were glad he went to UK to be sure of his decision. For whatever rason, he felt that SU was the place for him.

Bonus
Coleman’s commitment just made the Lazy Announcer Bingo game easier! "He is not related at all to Syracuse great, Derrick Coleman (shows image of Derrick in his playing days, or camera pans to a suited up Derrick on the sidelines, pumping people up)
I acutally stood next to OG DC
In Manny’s when I was up in ‘Cuse for the Toldeo game. Dude is an absolute house. I’m 6’5", 275, and he made me feel small.

am i incorrect
that “OG” is “original gansta”, I hope. As an aside, that is how I order a grandslam at Denny’s…"I’ll have an “Original Gansta” please, and a cup of coffee. Surprisingly, not one Denny’s waitress or waiter has ever asked me to clarify, and have always brought what I wanted. They know.
you are correct

Maybe he can
get his buddy to switch from Wake and go to SU
May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.
Are you talking about that Kavanaugh kid?
I remember reading an article in one of the daily links awhile ago about it. Seemed like he would be a solid get. At this point, though, i think a true PG is should be priority #1 when trying to finish oue the 2012 class

We don't want Cavanaugh
He’d be a role player at best. Think Gorman except less funny.
I hope Grant is the great SF that we need for the next 4 years…then again, I think 12-13 will see a gigantic lineup of MCW-Triche-CJ-Rak/DC-Fab/DC
NOT TEN!!

Great teams need role players
Gorman didn’t even live up to that.

Nice
Gotta love this, Dajuan will absolutely dominate the paint in his Freshman year. Hopefully Nerlens will follow in 2013…
Since the early 1990's I have not been able to get Mike Hopkins' bloody face out of my brain. I don't remember what game it was but I'll never forget that as my first memory of SU basketball. Mike Hopkins, bloody face, bloody nose, all for the love of Syracuse.
Looking at ESPN
Syracuse hasn’t even made an offer to a guard other than Ricky Ledo who committed…committed to Providence.
I expect Boeheim and crew are on the trail of some diamond in the rough that won’t mind sitting behind our deep backcourt for a year or two, then becoming a solid point guard.
