Around SBN: Now They've Screwed Spurs, UEFA Willing To Review Rule

Maryland AD Kevin Anderson says the Orange and Panthers could begin ACC play before the contractually mandated year of 2014.

He said the Big East has asked both Pittsburgh and Syracuse to stop coming to conference meetings and that the conference has signaled to their partners that "the transition could be sooner."

It does bother me that

we have to stay in the conference for 27 months but we have no say in what happens. If we’re going to be here for 2+ years, we should still have say on decisions that affect us in that timeframe.

Otherwise, let us go.

Agreed.

If we are forced to remain members, we should remain members. Unless no new teams come on board I just can’t see how us staying for the whole 27 months is beneficial to the BE.

at least your misspelling would be pronounced the same way

The common misspelling people have for my last name swaps 2 of the letters. But if they read out what they spelled, it doesn’t even sound like my name. I’ve never understood it.

This is the point where I head off the snarky comments & say that my name isn’t actually Plow. You knuckleheads.

Yes

we should keep going to the meetings and voting. If they take away our rights as members, they are essentially saying we are not really members

May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.

I wonder if Syracuse and Pitt have grounds to sue for “improper denial of conference voting rights” or something of that sort if they’re forced to stay in the conference but unable to vote on anything.

Assumption is the mother of all @#%-ups.

Marinotto is a fool, but the one thing he sort of seems to understand...

is how to take money from member schools. The posturing that he’s going to hold Cuse and Pitt to the 27 months is just that: posturing. He’s hoping to drive up the price of Cuse/Pitt leaving early. It might take more than the $5mil extra that was just tacked onto the conference exit fee. I mean, how foolish would he look if he let them go in 2012-13 for just the cost of the new exit fee? Hm, wait a second, while I get into his mind…yeah, he’ll definitely do it for an even $10 mil, he has no idea why that would look weak.

Of course, if no fresh blood joins the BE, no amount of money is going to get Cuse/Pitt out sooner. Wouldn’t the BE lose its AQ status immediately by dipping below 8 schools? Pretty sure I read that somewhere, could be wrong.

We can darn well still show at conference meetings!

You keep us here 27 months, were not gonna leave you’re meetings unless you let us go!

Since the early 1990's I have not been able to get Mike Hopkins' bloody face out of my brain. I don't remember what game it was but I'll never forget that as my first memory of SU basketball. Mike Hopkins, bloody face, bloody nose, all for the love of Syracuse.
