Hey guys- some quick thoughts on the upcoming games in the Big East this week. Other than a Syracuse win, there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing the talking heads proven wrong time and again about the quality of Big East football. I think it'll be a tough year ahead, but the BE has a great shot at coming out on the right foot this week. What do you think?
Pitt @ Utah - Though Utah is packing up for the PAC-10 and isn't ranked, it would do the BE a lot of good if Pitt could win this one convincingly and put some of the MWC-is-better than the BE talk to bed. Utah is still a good team, and for whatever reason most people are hyping Pitt to take the BE. This is a must win for the conference.
Kentucky @ UL - Not that anyone really cares about whats happening in Kentucky, but any win over an SEC team is a nice feather in the cap for the conference. Especially when it comes at the hands of the BE's worst team.
UConn @ Michigan - I hope UConn pastes Michigan to the tune of 70-0, with images of Greggers and RichRod sucking their thumbs on the sidelines broadcast nationwide on ABC.
Syracuse @ Akron - Is it too much to ask to beat Akron by enough points that they decide to cancel their football program completely?
Cincy @ Fresno St. - Why anyone would voluntarily travel to Fresno, CA is a complete mystery to me. Same goes for Cincy. Neither team is ranked, but Cincy still is reigning 2-time BE champ and Fresno St. isn't terrible. Cincy losing this game would certainly lend credence to the idea that the WAC is better than the BE.
Rutgers, WVU and USF- I'm not really gonna comment on any of these games, other than I'd laugh my ass off if Rutgers got beat. Since thats not likely to happen, lets just hope Tom Savage loses a couple of limbs instead. WVU and USF just need to represent the conference well and lock each game up by halftime.
I think the conference will probably be 6-2 by the end of the weekend. But theres the distinct possibility of being 7-1 or 8-0 if all goes right.
