Syracuse's Wolfpack Grows By One: N.C. State Officially On The Schedule

Back in May, NC State basketball coach Sidney Lowe was telling folks that the Wolfpack and Orange had signed a deal for a home-and-home starting this season. Looks like he wasn't fibbing as Syracuse officially announced the game is set for Saturday, December 4th.

North Carolina State went 20-16 overall last season and reached the second round of the NIT. The Wolfpack will return three starters. Senior forward Tracy Smith averaged 16.5 points and 7.3 rebounds a game last season. Coach Sidney Lowe is 71-62 in four seasons at the helm.

Syracuse leads the all-time series 2-1, though SU needs to avenge the last meeting, an 82-68 upset in the Dome in 2001.

The Orange have created a mini-gauntlet for themselves between November 26th and December 7th in which they'll see Michigan (N), Georgia Tech (probably, N), Cornell (H), NC State (H) and Michigan State (N).  At least, it's a gauntlet compared to Syracuse OOC schedules past.

damn!

that is a hell of a schedule. as has been noted on this site before, jimbo must be pretty confident in the team this year, and he usually knows what he’s talking about. i can’t wait.

BK: This guy is on fire, he is really smokin'.
KenKo: Oh yeah, Bill? What's he smokin'?

The only Tourney quality team is Michigan State though

Cornell is going to stink. Michigan, NC State and Georgia Tech are big conference teams, but will be nothing more than middle of the pack teams, at best.

The MSU game will be huge.

This Announcing One Game at a Time

seems to be working. Instead of everyone just picking out a few games on the schedule everyone seems to be talking about each game. I guess the doing a game a day wasn’t such a bad idea after all….

I hope the players sleep on State as some of you fans are...

Our entire starting 5 will all have a decent chance of playing in the NBA with one, CJ Leslie, being a lottery pick this year. We added 3 5-star recruits this year and also have the best 5 man in the ACC, Tracy Smith. In fact, this is possibly the most talented team since the Jim Valvano days.

For the younger generation, NC State used to be a nationally relevant program and won 2 NCAA Championships within a 9 year span. It’s a long and complicated story but basically we have endured 20 years of mediocrity from both outside and self inflicted wounds. I assure you that with outster of our incompetent leadership, both our Chancellor and AD, and the hiring of our new Chancellor Randy Woodson and new AD Debbie Yow, we will be nationally relevant again sooner rather than later.

Can’t wait for December 4th I’ll see ya’ll in the ’Cuse!
