Early look – Washington | CuseOrange.com
The next team on docket for our way too early look-in is the Washington Huskies. This program has pretty much mirrored our situation, enduring a run of 7 straight non-winning seasons. Now imagine having potentially the top rated QB prospect on the roster that has started the last 3 seasons. This is the hell that Husky Nation has endured. Now let’s take a deeper dive.

I was shocked at skinny
Macky Mack Daddy McDuck McPherson looked on TV. That All-Star game was atrocious to watch. The lack of practice definitely showed, but there was like only one highlight play per quarter. I do want to say that Marrone should be looking at LB Trevond Burke from Corcoran. He’s going to Lackawanna Juco (grades maybe?), but he was the best player on the field at times.

I thought I had read somewhere that John Kinder had issues with his grades.
But I don’t remember where I saw that and I can’t find evidence of it anywhere online. Am I making this up, or did someone else make this up and I foolishly believed them?
Haven't heard anything about that

The varsity 8
ended up finishing 6th. In the top race which means they finished 6th in the country. Crews that make the grand final at the IRA are considered elite teams. SU is pretty good, with two (maybe more depending on how selection camps go) U23 national team guys.
The IRA (intercollegiate rowing association regatta) is the mens rowing equivalent of the NCAA finals. mens rowing is one of the last sports to hold out on joining the NCAA because it would mean they could no longer race international crews or travel overseas. (SU gets invited to Henley in England and this year raced, and beat, the University of Oxford in Seattle) The NCAA would also band traditions like shirt betting, where the loser gives the winner the shirt off his back. This is a real point of pride for rowers because you can show off who you beat. Mens rowing has an affiliation with the NCAA. It follows all the rules (with a few exceptions) and we have to do the same compliance stuff. But out points dont count towards the AD cup. However, with the revised format of the IRA, it looks like mens rowing will be joining the NCAA sometime in the near future. The Pac 10 schools are pushing for that change. But were that the case, schools like Cal and UW would not be able to have 25 year old freshmen who have already been to the olympics.
Mens rowing is huge for the athletic department. The donors are annually right up there with football and basketball. There are two rowing alumni who sit on the board of trustees as well.
