Paulus In The Running To Be Brees' Backup
Over at www.nola.com this greeted me this morning:
The story is just a look at the three QBs competing to be Brees' backup. Chase Daniels, undrafted from two years ago is the veteran of the three. There is the kid they drafted in the seventh round from San Diego State and then Paulus. Why Paulus' picture gets the lead I have no idea, but he does get quoted in the article. If I were a betting man I'd say Daniels has the edge given his familiarity with the system, but who knows, Paulus may stand a chance.

As predicated by yours truly
many months ago.
I don’t think he will be the backup, but he will make the team. He fits the system perfectly.
I hope he makes it and thrives just to shut people up on Syracuse.com.
I agree.
Fits the system, but not enough there to be a #2. Still see him making the team, or as goober mentioned, the practice squad. I wouldn’t mind him being in town if it means I might randomly bump into him while wearing Syracuse gear.
Greg Paulus will stop the oil spill
It’s science.

Scout team QB...
for a few years then make the transition to ESPN?
Orange you glad it's not football season?
These are more likely scenarios
Wish him well, just don’t see a regular playing role for him in the NFL.
Go Orange(men)!
exactly. he's not an nfl starter or backup.
he’s one of those todd boeckman types. smarts, no arm.
wish he could have another year with us somehow.
maybe go the scottie reynolds route and enroll in a phd at newhouse?
do they even have phds at newhouse?
Agreed
But that would be great if he landed there. Its not like he would be starting for anyone or even drafted due to his lack of college play, but a year on the scout team and rolling with the big dogs and I think he would still be a good NFL QB. Hes got plenty of mileage left in him.
Would love to see this as well
Chiefly because, as you mentioned, it would piss off everyone on Syracuse.com.
Seriously, why do they hate this kid so much? I see a lot bandied about how his family (father specifically) is arrogant, and it seems as if many of the posters can’t get over the fact that he “spurned” Syracuse the first time. Not for nothing, if the choice presented to me was “play football for Greg Robinson or play basketball for Coach K,” the only question I’d have is, “when is the first flight to Durham, N.C.”
Bunch of assholes over on that site anyway.

Why would you hate him?
It has to be not getting over the Duke stigma. He won me over by his effort last year, kid led an offense that was completely over-matched week in week out and kept playing hard. Gotta respect that.
Go Orange(men)!
Totally agree
Why they hate him just baffles me – it’s petty and childish.

Do you read non-sports comments on cuse.com?
Its like a Hitler/Pol Pot/KKK meeting in one convenient place. It shouldn’t surprise you that the scum of the internet all convening in one place take exception to an accomplished kid with a bright future.
