the brainchild doug gottlieb flexing his knowledge

discussion gottlieb just had in between the 12 and 2pm games at the garden today

host 1: do you think the big east is overrated?

gottlieb: "in the middle.. yes"

gottlieb then went on to say the big 12 is a better conference than the big east and THEN stated that the top of the acc (the ACC!!!) is as good as the top of the big east!

after this the other 2 hosts started ganging up on lil dougie and one asks him "would you be shocked to see syracuse, villanova, and wvu in the final 4?" gottlieb said no. then the host asks him "would you be shocked if any other ACC team other than duke got to the final 4" gottlieb said yes. so then both hosts jump on him saying you JUST said the acc was as good as the big east!! and gottlieb starts the backpeddling that sounds so much like someone accused of stealing credit cards would use, and they had to cut out to a different topic, convenienetly..

At this point

I would be shocked to see Nova in the final four. They play zero defense and it’s getting worse. That being said the ACC top is in no way better than the BE top. The Big 12 is better than the BE though. I don’t care what metric you use.

Well he should have come back with the obvious answer

Duke is so tremendously outstanding that they would have the swept the Big East this year, and so by default they drag the rest of the ACC above the Big East. I mean duh, it’s that simple.

Homer: Aw, twenty dollars! I wanted a peanut!
Homer's Brain: Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts!
Homer: Explain how!
Homer's Brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services!
Homer: Woo-hoo!

I'll give him

Duke and Maryland as good teams from the ACC. Other than that, I don’t think they could compete with Cuse, Nova, West Va, Pitt.

Frankly, I think Maryland is a very underrated team right now that could potentially run the table in the ACC tourney.

Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Glad to hear that my ongoing dislike for DougG

was so richly rewarded. He start the whole suck-up routine to try to get into SU’s good graces when SU was playing dominate this year, but underneath you could feel the conflict within himself take place……need-to-be-a-dick-to-the-BE…..must-resist-urge-to-suck-Duke-dick……arrrrrrrghhhhhhhh….

SU, Nova & Pitt losing was like waving some crack in front of a junkie. He just couldn’t resist.

Go Orange(men)!

He made the Sportscenter Not Top 10 this morning

For putting Florida in the tournament, then an hour later declaring them out. Keep in mind this took place in the morning so literally nothing had changed from one hour to another.

That said, I still like Gottlieb and actually think he’s one of the better analysts on ESPN.
