Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Dear St. Johns, You can't do anything right. Go to hell.

So, I saw the press release and the information that tickets would be available for the BET at 8:30 Monday morning.  Sounded too good to be true, so I called them.  And sure enough, they confirmed that they would have tickets available to the general public at 8:30am monday morning.  They also assured me I could just call and while I could come by the box office it would not be necessary.  Obviously, I took all precautions and woke up at 5am this morning to go to St. Johns (I only live a half hour away).  So I get there, and am first on line.  Serendipity!  Others show up after me, but damn them, I am FIRST.  The box office opens right on time.  I go up, excited as hell that I will get to spend all week at MSG wearing a healthy rotation of orange jerseys ranging from Douglas to Devendorf. 'SOLD OUT' the lady at the box office says.  "But I called Friday and they confirmed that there would be tickets on sale this morning" I pleased.  'Sorry, we're SOLD OUT'.  "But there was a press release, it was in the paper.  Not to mention I called to confirm."  'Sorry, try StubHub.'  That was just the ultimate F-U.  I decided that rather than staging a riot I would opt to leave and keep my clean criminal record.

ST. JOHNS, I HATE YOU WITH EVERY INCH OF MY BEING.  DIE OF GONORRHEA AND GO TO HELL!!!!!!!!

that "try stubhub" line is a CLASSIC

believe me the st johns box office probably put a bunch of those tickets on stubhub themselves.. stubhub must have first class lobbyists!! the stubhub big east tournament prices are hilarious too.

Nova

Villanova did something similar a few years ago. They were only selling packages of tickets to Syracuse and two other teams nobody wanted to see. The Syracuse game was in Feb, so finally in January say they will begin selling single game tickets to the Syracuse game. The day they are suppose to go on sale I go to the Wachovia Center box office and they tell me that they will only sell them online (so they can get the extra $8 convience charge), I haven’t been back to the Wachovia Center since.

i called on friday...

and got two different answers. first guy i spoke with said that they were sold out, called again to confirm later in the afternoon, and he said that they wouldn’t know until monday.

i called this morning at 8:31 (thankfully didn’t head out to jamaica), and one of the same guys from friday confirmed that they were, in fact, sold out.

really annoying…i didn’t realized there was a presser in the paper though. insult to injury.
