we’ll be fine
Hold on, where's that pic...

Go Orange(men)!

closing Freedom Hall with a 'cuse W
could be the most shutting of it down we do all year
ugly start
looking like west virginia with their 16 first half points
we have no rhythm on offense
and cant get out on the break. we need to outlet quicker and get back
Going to OT. Nova 3 to tie, WVU never got a good shot off b/c they weren’t looking at the clock.

I hate Louisville
Their D totally hurts us pressuring full court

"As the governor of Louisiana once said, the only way Chris Kelsay can lose his job is if he got caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."
But you don't think they have done that?
L’ville is one of the few teams that can actually execute the plan against us…

Triche hooked the defensive player with his off hand. it was a good call

nice uncalled travel before the dish that led to the 3 pt play right there before the timeout
Syracuse players have a lot of length.
Anyone watching wvu-nova?
im amazed at how stupid people can be sometimes
So... I just turned on the game
and I dislike this.
Also, does Rick Pitino always look like a TV telethon minister in his suits to anyone else?
Other people look, Andy Rautins can SEE.

Rautins is so awesome on D

hahhaa that was one of the best I've seen
he triple clutched his windup and released it with force.
rivaled many of the great called-3rd-strike-punchouts I’ve seen in MLB
arrgggh, commercials lining up w/ nova-wvu
this is frustrating, i’d like to watch it during breaks in the SU game
Syracuse players have a lot of length.
They haven't called a foul in a while on either team
And I’m loving it

It really doesnt matter….We are lined up with Pitt for the Semis. They were just fighting for 2/3.

why would you throw an oop from half court?
poor decisions
If anyone other than Andy had made that pass
Boeheim would have benched them.
Other people look, Andy Rautins can SEE.
LMAO Rick what game are you watching, 85% of your threes were terrible shots that were either contested, off balance, or like 5 feet off of the three point line.
Color me confused for a sec
But I saw the women play Providence today at 2PM, but in the schedule they still face UConn regardless of the outcome. Did they play the game this morning and just didn’t update it?
They are currently tied with 1 minute left in the first. UConn is listed on the schedule because they have a bye so if SU wins, they will play UConn.
yup let try that again “lmao we lose no matter what!!!!!!!” yeah my brain was thinking ahead of where my fingers were typing my bad.

I didn’t realize hitting the ball = foul. Awesome! These are some great refs!

Apparently SU is again the odds on favorite to win the BET. No idea when the last time it was that they were the odds on favorite.
And no way will a team that has to play four games win the BET. This person needs to look up his SU tournament history.
i doubt a team will win 5 games to win the BET anytime soon
but 4 isn’t really that unexpected. i think a couple teams have done it now (SU was the first)
Syracuse players have a lot of length.
we've got ta be careful
eventually the defenders are going to set up in time for these to be charges
Syracuse players have a lot of length.
I think that was actually an over the back
Not saying Louisville hasn’t been doing a lot of it and getting away with it, though.
Other people look, Andy Rautins can SEE.
It was absolutely over the back. That is far from my point. It was the same over the back that Louisville has been committing all game.
llllvlll goes over the back for rebounds all game
1st time SU does it, it’s a foul
Syracuse players have a lot of length.

Hey this loss is better than the other 2 losses if we're going to go by retarded Gary Parrish logic.
Whatever
no one was winning this game today in Freedom Hall, and really, it doesnt matter for us, we have a 1 seed, buffalo in the first 2 rounds and we aren’t playing close to home for the sweet 16/elite 8 no matter what. so whatever.
I'm telling you, robot refs are definitely needed
I hope louisville’s shitty arena collapses
by pegs on Mar 6, 2010 3:57 PM EST via mobile reply actions
I hope everyone enjoys the fact
that we blew an opportunity to let Wes’s hand heal. I sure do like his lame ass defense and 30% shooting.
That’s OK…. at least we maintained our chemistry.
Are you people actually bitching about the refs???? This game has been officiated fine.
Not to mention
How much fun was it watching our POY candidate get his shit tossed by swopshire?
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
Meanwhile
Rick Jackson has a 60% shooting percentage… only it should be about 95% given his shot selection. The guy must break 1/2 his dishes every night trying to get them into the sink. Not to mention his 70% rebounding ability.
And A.O.’s missed layup to start the 2nd half was a mo killer.
Oh well… at least we maintained our chemistry.
i hope we get louisvill in the BET somehow
we need to avenge this shit
wow
offensive rebound much? Also I see no reason why Triche is in the game, Ever

I assume we are all here to discuss the women’s game as the men did not have a game today.
The men didn't think they did
"(BARF)" - Donovan McNabb, during his game winning drive against Virginia Tech in 1998
OK.
Obviously you are a huge fan with an iron-clasp grasp on how this all works.
no i just dont trust the selection committee to keep us at a number 1 seed.
by Matthew Scott on Mar 6, 2010 4:09 PM EST up reply actions
Well shit
That sucked. Rick Pitino and his Colonel Sanders outfits can go eat a dick. But, who cares. It’s onto the BET, and then, the Dance. That’s all that matters. Let’s just hope we don’t have to play Louisville again…and that no opposing coaches watch the tape of these two games, because it’s an absolute blueprint on how to beat us. Disgusting.
"(BARF)" - Donovan McNabb, during his game winning drive against Virginia Tech in 1998
Also
0 minutes for Southerland and Riley. Thanks Boeheim that will really come in handy come tournament time. This would have been a perfect opportunity for them to get experience in a hostile environment. Gone
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
That's OK
Fair weather Syracuse fans needed to have their 9-0 road record… “avenge” the prior L-ville loss.
You are an idiot. Everyone who doesn’t agree with you is a “fair weather Syracuse fan”? Get your head out of your ass.
So you don't think
Getting Southerland and Riley playing time in Freedom Hall would have been valuable preparation for the tournament?
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
Exactly
If you care about the team—big picture—you would have hoped to see Wes get healthy.
I love J.B., but he blew this one big time.
How can this team not doubt itself a little bit?
If I care about this team- big picture- I would watch every game on TV, I would sleep outside for seats, I would sit in the front row of every game, I would make plans to attend the Big East tournament, the first round of the NCAAs, and the final four if we make it. And I’d leaving the coaching to the hall of fame coach.
But I get that the two of you have decided you have some epic axe to grind about all of this. That’s super fun for you. Up your dosage.
I do trust the coaches
That doesn’t mean he did not make a mistake.
Wes is just a shell of himself right now. Missing close shots. Unwilling or ineffective at three point shots. Erratic with rebounds in traffic today. Getting rejected. Slow to respond on defense to several shots…. barely getting his hands above eye level.
For what? To win THIS game? A meaningless game?
What’s done is done.
Whoa
Axe to grind? I wish Southerland and Riley had played today, especially since playing our starters did no good. That doesn’t mean I have an axe to grind.
Boeheim deserves coach of the year and still forgets more about basketball in a day that I will ever know. That doesn’t mean I don’t have a right to an opinion.
I merely expressed the opinion that if we were going to lose, it would have been great to get our depth some experience. You were the one who attacked me and ezcuse just for saying that.
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
When you start saying something before the game and continue saying it over and over and over again in both this thread and the other one, it sure looks like you have an axe to grind.
And I didn’t “attack you and ezcuse just for saying that”. I took issue with ezcuse for saying that anyone who didn’t agree with his position was a “fair weather fan” and didn’t care about this team in the big picture. So that isn’t merely expressing an opinion. You can’t possibly see how that comes across as a) ridiculous b) obnoxious and c) like you have an axe to grind?
Not the fair weather part
Obviously I don’t agree with that. Even Sean said he wanted to play the starters. I think he was wrong but I wouldn’t call him a fair weather fan
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
Wasn't Syracuse supposed to have a decisive size advantage down low?
Louisville 41 rebounds, SU 33. How. Does. That. Happen. Shame on Rick. Shame on Arinze. Shame on Wes for playing like a pussy
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
Constant over the backs by lville
But only calling those fouls on cuse
by pegs on Mar 6, 2010 4:22 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
BTW
How many times was Wes blocked today? That’s just a poor effort. With his vertical he should rarely, if ever, get block.
We needed a loss
imo. If a natl championship is coming, we werent going to rattle off 10 in a row. This was a beatdown in all aspects. I think they will take this as a reality check and bust it loose for the remainder.

this is what i said about the valentine's day game..
this game might have been just too much to win with as much as louisville had on the line.. but i’m still seeing some simple repeated problems (LIKE HOLDING ON TO LOOSE BALLS) that keep leading us into closer games than we should be in or even getting blown out in the end by fn pitino & louisville..
but i hope you’re right..
I fight like a girl

i really hope some of last months ups and downs settle..
if the whole team is on and playing as one, it would take a great basketball team to keep up.. but improved shot selection, holding on to key boards (including but not limited to BOXOUT AT THE LINE!), and not letting a hot 3pt shooter get open shots.. all will be important to key in on as this month of months progresses..
I fight like a girl
"Being mad ruins my day way more than it ruins the day of the person I’m mad at." -Dave
Seriously
How many times did the ball just go through our fingers? Not to mention all those times louisville saved balls from out of bounds
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
SERIOUSLY! how is that even possible? does the team need to invest in some good talc powder to keep hands dry?
and yea.. i hate giving them credit like this.. but louisville played like the team that wanted this game down the stretch.. and they got lucky a few times and feed off of great crowd energy that wasn’t going to let this game be a loss..

hes a chubby dude with a terrible haircut.
just laugh it off
First person in Lawrinson to be crying how we aren’t number 1 anymore’s getting a verbal beatdown.
At worst, we’re gonna be 4th next week. And barring a huge run by Duke or Kansas State in their conference tourneys and we win a Big East tourney game, we’re a 1 seed. Yes this loss sucked but it only hurts us a little in the grand scheme of things in terms of where we’re seeded in the tournament.
+1
It sucks, yes, but big picture, it does not matter. If we finished ranked #1 and got knocked out in the second round of the tournament…well, I know what I’d remember about this season.
"(BARF)" - Donovan McNabb, during his game winning drive against Virginia Tech in 1998
Good call. I didn’t realize Kansas State lost that badly to Kansas. If it was close I wouldn’t have kept it past the media to screw things up and rank them ahead of us only because they lost to Kansas
Kansas State just lost again to Iowa State
So yeah we shouldn’t be worse than 3rd
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
In a feeble attempt to think positive
Andy had a terrible shooting game, KrisJo didn’t play that much or at all well when he did, we had a terrible free throw shooting day (sub par even for us)… Even though Wes put in 18 I got the idea that his hand was really bothering them (dropping a lot more balls than normal, etc.). Triche has been off lately (although he was starting to look aggressive at the end of this game). The reffing was not favorable, this was probably going to be the last men’s game in Freedom Hall, and who knows what Boeheim is going to do better than a guy who has been his assistant coach in the past?
This was the perfect storm of bad things, if you will. We can use this loss to get refocused. We can get some rest, and come back as the team that gets 10 wins in between losses.
Other people look, Andy Rautins can SEE.
The perfect storm of bad things as in, it probably (hopefully) won’t happen again.
Other people look, Andy Rautins can SEE.
I just think
The loss was a missed opportunity. How many truly meaningless games do you get in the NCAA? We can’t go into the tournament with a 7 man rotation. Against a team like Kansas it’s going to hurt us. This owuld have been a great chance to see what we ahve.
IF we were going to lose anyway, why not lose with some of your less experienced players?
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
interesting idea..
if it wasn’t for the fact that it feels like wes really just came back last week and keeping the chemistry in some of those key lineups and having them play together more often is only going to help..
about the rotation.. i trust coach but it does feel like the short rotation could hurt us when we’re going deep.. it’s also hard to figure whose minutes i would want to take away and give to one of those possible 8th men short of a necessity..
I fight like a girl
"Being mad ruins my day way more than it ruins the day of the person I’m mad at." -Dave
Dashonte needs to be ready to go
We can’t count on Onuaku, Jackson, and Wes to all stay out of foul trouble.
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
You're not going to get RIley ready in time
no matter how many minutes you get him in the BET, it’s too late in the season to expect anything meaningful out of him.
Maybe if they worked him in more from the start of the BE season I would agree with you, but this 7 man squad is all we got this year.
Go Orange(men)!
Then I dont think we are looking at a championship team
Even the 2003 team was 8 deep
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
Hey, we need a little luck, and get on a little hot streak
The 1987, 1996 and even the 2003 all had that. Hell almost every tourney champ team had it. We’re not a perfect, dominate squad. We get probably out-maned, 1-1, against the bigger teams at most positions.
We need to play the fast, team game that we have most of the year, get a little hot, cut down the turnovers, and when opportunities present themselves, SMASH THEM.
I refuse to believe that just because we are only 7 deep does that mean we are automatically excluded from the title. Vegas has us at 7-2 odds even with Kentucky and a little behind Kansas. Gotta say, that feels about right. Keep the orange faith brother.
Go Orange(men)!
Thoughts
Andy was launching some 3s that would have been deep if it was an NBA game. He pretty much disappeared. The bigs couldn’t hold onto the ball. Johnson seemed…off. Scoop was the only player that showed up to play.
I think KrisJo’s knee was bugging him more than we know and Jim wanted to give him some rest. Also, I have a feeling that Johnson’s hand isn’t going to get better any time soon but that the pain is manageable enough so they’re just going to play things out and keep treating it. Sure, Southerland and Riley didn’t play at all, but they haven’t played all year – why bother now? You go with the guys that got you there. Sure you could plug them into the game for 5-10 minutes, but is that really going to make a huge difference at this point? No.
I think that Jim was sending a statement to the players. If you don’t show up to play defense, then you’re going to lose. And he made sure of it – no pressure at the very end, no fouling, nothing. The players didn’t show up to play and he wanted them to taste their own blood so they never get hit in the mouth again.
In a meaningless game
Why not play Southerland or Riley?
The guys that got you there are the 7, no doubt about it. But you have to be prepared for the worst case scenario. What if Onuaku and Jackson get in foul trouble against Cole Aldrich? Are we going to put Wes Johnson at center? Riley needs to be an option. He doesn’t have to be great, but he at least has to be passable.
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
I know that game didn't really matter
but I’m still going to drink heavily to get that taste out of my mouth.
I'm going to be really worried if
We play an afternoon game in the second round of the NCAAs. What’s it with the weekend afternoon games this year?
