A Special Request to the TNIAAM Community

I want to preface this by thanking Sean for allowing me to post this here. Much appreciated.

Everyone:

I know that times are hard right now. And I know that we are all still in a mental daze, trying to recover from last night.

The reason I'm making this post is because I'm looking to see what we can do for an incredible future SU student. One of the groups at the law firm where I practice, last year, "adopted" a local honor student. She comes from a very disadvantaged background but has worked her tail off her entire life. In the past, they've done little things for her, like school supplies and Christmas presents. A couple of weeks ago, she found out she's been accepted to Syracuse - with a full scholarship. Dream come true for any of us. So that's where she'll be this coming school year.

But going from South Florida to Syracuse is one big jump -- especially for someone from a disadvantaged background. She doesn't have to pay for her schooling, but there's still costs for food. There's still the need for supplies. There's still the need for warm clothes (not exactly necessary here).  There's still need for the ability to travel home for the holidays. The little things like that.

I don't want to put any pressure on you guys. I know it's not exactly a good economic time for anyone. If you can't do anything, please, don't feel bad. But you have the ability to help, whether it's with items or with money (or even airline miles if you can swing it), it would be appreciated.

If you have anything you want to ask me about this or want to help, please either reply here or send me an e-mail  (andrew.schwartz AT akerman.com). Thanks a lot, and thanks again Sean for letting me post this.

Go Orange.
