Syracuse To Be Legendary Next Season
The Legends Classic is one of those arbitrary early-season NCAA tournaments that every team has to try and pick one of to play in each year. Looks like that's where Syracuse will be next season as SU has been chosen as one of the four host teams.
Syracuse, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and UTEP will compete in the 2010 Legends Classic, which culminates with the Championship Rounds at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., Nov. 26-27. Championship Round tickets will go ON SALE TOMORROW (March 11) at 12:00 noon.
It works pretty much the same was the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament did this year. There's twelve teams, three in each "pod." Those teams will play each other round-robin in meaningless games because, regardless of what happens, the four host schools will move on to the Championship Round in Atlantic City.
We don't know which two teams will be coming to the Dome for the regional round but they will come from this pool: Albany, Bowling Green, Detroit, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, Niagara, Western Carolina, and William & Mary. If I'm a betting man, I'm guessing Albany and Niagara.
So though we're not even done with this season, it's nice to be able to look ahead to next year already and see some very winnable games (i'm assuming). On paper, SU should win that thing handily. But of course...that's a long ways away.

This sounds good
Anyone else going? I might lose my travel buddy by then, though (new baby on the way).
Bowling Green
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the tourney organizers match up Louis Orr’s Bowling Green team with SU.
Does not count!
New Jersey is directly adjacent to New York and Broadwalk Hall is Syracuse’s home away from Dome anyway!
Bowling Green is pretty close to Ann Arbor
Gotta figure BG and Detroit are headed there.
Mercer @ Ga Tech.
Not sure how Gardener-Webb, West Carolina, and William and Mary fit in the travel picture.
Not a Fan
Is it just me, or is this a huge step back in terms of early season tournaments? The last two years, Cuse has silenced (most of) its critics who love claiming that they play all cake teams out of conference. This year, we are going to be replacing North Carolina and Cal (who was supposed to be good) with UTEP and Michigan?
I hope there is more in the works…. this tourney blows.

Problem is
we can’t play in the big tourneys more than once every few years. So we’re unable to play in a place like Maui or Puerto Rico and have to play the garbage ones when we can. Consider it a good sign that we get invited to these things year after year after year unlike a program like Rutgers or Seton Hall or Providence.
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Beg to Differ
UTEP is not a cake team, they are 24-5 so far this year, and will most likely be returning all of their starters. They will probably be a preseason top 15 team next year.
