Kris Joseph is the Sixth Man of the Year
Do they give this award away in college basketball? If so, I just want to prepare you for Kris Joseph wining it at the end of the season (and every announcer mentioning this during the commentary for our remaining games). With Andy's recent scoring slump, and KJo's hot streak, Joseph has slid up to become the team's second leading scorer. (he's also 3rd in rebounds and 3rd in steals, the latter stat probably helping him get playing time this year almost as much as his scoring)
The secret, though, that I suppose isn't actually a secret, is Joseph isn't really a 6th man. He's averaging third on the team in minutes. Why is he even coming off the bench? I guess because a) Boeheim seems to stick solidly to his starting lineups once their set and b) it would seem awfully odd to start the game with Rick or Arinze on the bench.
Whatever works, I'm sure we're all more than happy to stick with it. But I was also pretty surprised when I read today that KJo is our #2 scorer.

I’m pretty sure the deal is the NCAA doesn’t give out a sixth man of the year award but the Big East does. Corey Fisher won it last year.

definitely worthy of it
i feel like coach likes to see which of his bigs has it goin on that night, then sub in jojo for the weak link. but like you said, whatever works….
for sure
and I love this strategy by Boeheim and co.
He quickly figures out who is playing with more energy/fire/smarts that night and has a quick trigger when putting in KrisJo for one of the bigs. Joseph really seems to give a great spark off the bench if AO is playing lazy and fat or if Rick Jackson is making boneheaded plays or turning the ball over.
It’s a great move on Boeheim’s part and you know he knows that Joseph is the second-most talented player on the team, just that he’s suited better for this team off the bench.
Also, major kudos to Joseph for not complaining about the “starter” label, because he plays the minutes of a starter anyway. Fully buying into the team mentality there.
The sky is the limit
This guy has the size, quickness, athleticism, and jump shot to become a star
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
