Are we #1 now?
Nice to see that we almost outscored both MSU and Purdue. Do we really want anything to do with the Big 10? How can you play 40 minutes and score 44 points???
I suspect it will be a split of 1st place votes between Kansas and Syracuse. Who knows or cares how it plays out.
If we are going to sit Wes... let's do it against Louisville. From St. Johns to MSG is about 10 days of rest. Much better than playing through L-ville and then resting during the BE tourney. Just me two cents.

for selfish reasons..
i agree. My one opportunity to see this team will be at the BET, traveling up from NC for it! I’d like to see us at full strength. And it would be sweet to sweep the conference titles for once!
Well, the ony nice thing about the sucky BET format
is that as a top-4 seed, we only have to play three games to win the thing, which isn’t so bad. If we had to play four games in four days, I think I’d suggest taking the opener and trusting we’ll get a #1 anyway.
Not only did we outscore both teams, we were within 2 points of both teams’ scoring combined.
We’ll be 1 or 2, but as has been said many times… it doesn’t matter. We’ve got the 1 seed in the BET, just get a 1 seed in the NCAAs. That’s all that matters.
And I agree with sitting Wes, assuming we beat St. Johns. We should have 1 seeds wrapped up by then anyways.
One of the announcers
mentioned that Boeheim was pondering resting Wes for the BET. That’s why I posed my alternative.
They should
Not a whole lot to play for now. My only concern would be the legs of the six other guys. (Wouldn’t be a terrible thing to try to get Onuaku some rest too, as Boeheim seems to be doing to some extent playing him only 20ish minutes per game.)

The Rankings tomorrow are going to be so messed up between the AP and Coaches Poll because of all these upsets, especially some teams in the top 10 losing. They don’t watch every game and depend on recaps, box scores, and even hearsay to write their rankings. Don’t really care where SU gets put, but I’m interested to where everyone will fall or move up from last weeks rankings. Should cause a ruckus throughout the media.
My guess:
1. SU (ok I care a very little)
2. KU
3. UK
4. Duke
5. Kan St.
6. Purdue
7. Ohio St
8. Butler
9. New Mexico
10. ’Nova/WVU

Interesting
to see what Boeheim does with Wes if they beat St Johns. There will be zero to play for at Louisville, but if sits Wes out and they lose in the 1st round of the BET that means he will have only played one game in 16 days. There’s a fine line between rest and rust.
I think Boeheim plays everyone through the BET. Also Wes has said his hand is ok, so I’m not sure who to believe or if Wes is just gutting it out and not making excuses.
Also Cuse will be 1 tomorrow, Kansas two, Duke 3, Kentucky 4, I believe. Purdue is going to be punished twice for losing to Michigan State and losing Hummel. Fairly or not.
How does this help at all?
The whole purpose of “rest” is to not use his hand. If he plays in a game, he practices for the game.
I say you play him against STJ… we need that win to maintain #1 seed. Lose a third game at home and the Parrishes of the world have a very good point.
But then sit him against Louisville… even with a healthy Wes, L-ville is going to be amped up (last game at F.H. and bubble… c’mon… RJ and AO will have 5 fouls before the second commercial break), and could beat us. Better to have the Wes excuse. Play Southerland and Riley extensively… and start fresh with the BET…. as many as 8-9 straight days of rest will do wonders.
We are playing for the Big Dance now. Big picture.
And I am not talking about "Wes excuse" for others
I am talking about it from a team confidence standpoint. Yeah, we lost to L-ville twice, but we didn’t have a healthy Wes in either game. These are kids… gotta think about their psyche.
Wes doesn’t need to play against St. John’s, or at least not much. That isn’t overconfidence, just the luxury of knowing that there is surprisingly little drop off between Wes and Kris.

Unfortunetly, it won't get us much
We can’t be in the East, so a number 1 seed is a number 1 seed at this point.
Go Orange(men)!
Do you think any road game will be rowdier than the WVU game?
You think there is a "road"arena they can’t handle. Are they unbeatable, no. However, being at a road game will not bother them.
Go Orange(men)!
Sitting Wes extensively worries me
Unless Boeheim uses some combination of Southerland/Riley to eat up Wes’ minutes. I’d rather not see his rest at the expense of burdening the rest of the guys with extra minutes. Fresh legs are huge this time of year.
Makes sense to me
What is the downside of getting those two huge playing time against L-ville?
Yeah
As much as that game will mean to “THE VILLE” it’s pretty much a worthless game for Syracuse, with the caveat that a surprise loss to St. John’s tomorrow would make it much more important. (As much as we probably have a #1 locked up, potentially going into the tourney on a three-game losing streak would be almost as bad for seeding as it would be for the team’s attitude.)
