“The ’Cuse is loose?” Who says that?

Go, fight, and win.

I know

what a nerd. Welcome to 1984. For a second i thought he was going “cuse is in the house oh my god, oh my god”. I don’t mind lighter fabric. In fact I’m all for it, but the design on the back. Yuck. It looks cool when he explained it but is a smashmortion on the jersey.

Soooo, iconic right?

Every time he says iconic, drink!

by ShermCraig on Feb 10, 2010 5:06 PM EST reply actions

Now that I've watched the video

And I know what the back is supposed to be, I think the jerseys are pretty cool.

Contrast belt = sucks. Dont go retro on a the futuristic “hyper” uniforms.

Light weight shorts suck. Makes you feel like if you fall, its gonna be skin of floor. The only time I want light weight shorts is when Im spending the day on the couch and sweaty nether regions is a major concern. When playing ball, youre wearing compression shorts under it so who cares about the shorts on top?

4 pods on each side represent 44? Im calling BS on that one.

No one says the cuse is loose!

by fantasybc88 on Feb 10, 2010 5:11 PM EST reply actions

I like the designs. Wish I could get that for desktop image, etc.

by fantasybc88 on Feb 10, 2010 5:12 PM EST reply actions

I'm gonna say I like the whites better.

At least as far as the shorts are concerned. Still like bringing some blue into the mix on the home jersey’s, but I think the waistband works better on the whites. Also, the graphic is kinda cool in drawing form, but knowing what it’s supposed to look like it’s nearly illegible and inkblotty on the uni’s (hence Darth Vader, which I am ok with) . Where is the date? I still don’t see it.

I’ll buy the 44 thing. As an architect I deal with enough abstract ideas that I believe a designer would actually do that on purpose.

Agree with you about the waistband on the whites. I like the extra color.

Go, fight, and win.

its a good thing they made this video

now we know who to blame for this monstrosity and who to direct our HATE MAIL to at nike!! lets get to work..

by orngfan on Feb 10, 2010 5:22 PM EST reply actions

I had the same reaction.

As they introduced themselves I was thinking, “And now I know the men responsible for this! You will pay.”

the home unis suck

i hate the grey without any blue accent, save for the dumbass blocks on the side. and i blame darryl gross and not nike’s verson of sal romano. the road uniforms are fairly sharp though.

IMO

Not that bad. I think that the “44” part kind of caught me off guard that they would design something around that in a subtle way.

I do like how the shorts look. They are cooler than the ones we had prior to today. I would purchase them if they were less expensive.

I personally like seeing the city name on the front of jersey’s, but I know from owning one that the “ORANGE” doesn’t look as bad in real life as it does on the computer or TV.

I think the orange waistband part looks really sharp, IMHO.

Of course, the main complain is that you can’t see the design on the back. Frankly, I like seeing Darth Vader and thinking that was what they really designed for the “Orange Empire”.

He said something about "new fit"

If these jerseys fit differently and if they therefore ruin the kids’ shooting strokes I am going to take out Nike HQ with an anti-tank rocket.

The Cuse is loose?

What? Did Daryl tell him that? I don’t think that i have ever said that phrase before and I was practically raised in the Dome.

Hyperelite

It took me a couple minutes to realize that hyperelite is “hyper elite” rather than “hyper lite” spelled incorrectly.

by Jeff E on Feb 10, 2010 8:15 PM EST reply actions

too bad

the players numbers cover most of the graphics on the back of the jersey!!!

Wes Johnson is ridiculously good!!!

by BenAllen on Feb 10, 2010 11:32 PM EST reply actions

the date...

is not on our jersey…. point it out to me…

by QuintInBedstuy on Feb 11, 2010 12:01 AM EST reply actions

Better...

still not ideal, but better.

The orange color (at least in this video) looks more orange-y than before, which is good.

The emblem on the collar is kind of cool. But I’d rather have it be in fabric, not the shiny stick on thing they have (can’t really see it in this video).

Not sure if I like the belt, or not, yet. But the Cuse “buckle” seems too much. But I bet the designers needed something to break up the orange.

The 44 “pod” thing sounds like BS. And from far away looks rather silly. And I’ve never been crazy about the block S. Doesn’t anyone else think the “saturn” shaped S we had a few years ago was pretty rad? Why’d we get rid of that?! I always wanted to have that in the center of the basketball court. I actually designed a court that way back when Jake was AD and sent it to him (shot it down, of course).

The mural is a kind of cool idea. Definitely looks better than what I expected after seeing the Texas game. When I saw the Texas ones, I wondered the whole game “Is that a busy t-shift underneath his jersey?” If you can’t make out what it is, then I say it’s a failure. Agreed—ours does look like Darth Vader. Not iconic enough, and 1870 should be more prominent. THAT’S where you should be doing some 44 tricks.

I can live with the silver in this design. But I think my main gripe in these new style unis is the lack of stripes/pinstripes down the sides. Just not crazy about the solid color look.

by Jeepers44 on Feb 11, 2010 4:35 AM EST reply actions

I feel like they designed a bunch of stuff to throw on the jersey

and never bothered to wonder what this would look like in action. On a TV screen or from 300 feet away in the stands. Maybe subtle things are good for the players, I don’t know. But none of that matters when you’re watching the game because it’s just impossible to see for anyone not on the court..

by voteprime on Feb 11, 2010 8:38 AM EST reply actions

I agree they tried to throw too much onto the back

The Carniege Hall part I couldn’t find until this video and I spent A LOT of time sitting in that study hall staring at those windows. If they want to do a video to show off their special hyper fabric, fine but to need one to explain features to people who go/went there then you may want to rethink the design. And I still don’t see the year. But in more important news, we’re 1-0 in ’em….

One of the key contests in Syracuse's march to the national championship in 1959 was a titanic clash with unbeaten Penn State on Nov. 7, 1959 in University Park, PA. The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 7 and the Orangemen No. 4.

The 20-18 victory propelled Syracuse to the No. 1 in both the AP and UPI polls which they held for the remainder of the season to claim the consensus National Championship. This is the Universal Newsreel account of that contest.
