If you happen the check the official Syracuse football roster today, you might notice that freshman LB Malcolm Cater is no longer on it.
The reason? Well...there's some rumors floating out there right now. Some particularly unpleasant rumors. We'll withhold specifics until we hear for sure.
Of course, it doesn't help to hear Keon Lyn tweeting that he heard some bad news at practice today...
If the rumors hold, Cater's done. So let's hope they don't. In the meantime, we wait. We're talking about a guy who was likely a starter next year...and for the following two as well.
At this rate, we'll have nine roster players left for the Pinstripe Bowl. Pretty sure we can still beat Kansas State at that point, but, it's gonna take some finesse.
Update: And there it is.
Malcolm Cater, a freshman in the College of Human Ecology, is charged with three counts of burglary and one of grand larceny, all felonies, and two counts of petit larceny, which are misdemeanors, according to SPD. Cater was a linebacker for the Syracuse football team, but was removed from the roster Saturday.
Cater is accused of burglarizing two apartments near Farm Acre Road on Friday night or early Saturday morning, and one apartment on Small Road over Thanksgiving break, according to SPD. It is undetermined if Cater had any connection to the other three burglaries over Thanksgiving break, said Sgt. Tom Connellan of SPD.
Oy. Try as he might, I don't see how Doug Marrone gets away with not talking about this one...
