snapshot of of my SU-BC experience

Worst Momemt: Besides the game being thoroughly disappointing, which I could rail on and on about, I'd have to say getting pelted in the face by wind-whipped ice/snow pellets on our walk back through campus from the game was even worse. It was the kind of momemt where you'd just say screw it, I'm not going to class today. Except I graduated a long time ago.

Best moment: Standing in a croawded elvator at the Sheraton next to a pinstripe-suit clad RGLCL. My wife and I were headed out to dinner after the game and as soon as the doors opened - there he was front and center. I was gonna say something smart a** like, "you know, you're not as ridiculously good looking in real life" but thought it better not to tell lies. All jokes aside, what I noticed most is that the guy FREAKING TALL. I'm all of 6'2" and I was looking up to him. Good to know that our QBs are big enough for the college game...I'm not going to pick on Nassib, but I think he will be pushed hard to keep the starting role.

Wierdest moment: Listening to the jerks behind us at the game. I s*** you not if it were possible to convert the football forum at syracuse.com to an audio feed, that is what it would sound like. I almost felt like turning around and asking what their screen names were.

Oh yeah, and the actual game: Like I mentioned before it was disappointing, but, in being 7-5 at the end of the season, there's really no room for complaining. The team is obviously very banged up and much smaller than BC on the lines. That's the difference right there. I'm not for making excuses, but, until Marrone has a full roster to work with, we will have issues making it through a season without this kind of let down (though, a bye week in the middle of the big east schedule would have really helped). A win would have been nice in front of a decent home crowd on senior day too, but, anything more than simply being bowl eligible on the season is gravy. We also just happened to catch BC at the time of the season while they were playing their best football all year (same could be said for UL and UConn for that matter), and we still were in it all the way. I think I spotted some recruits along the SU sideline as well. Hopefully they all had a great time. Marrone will need another big class to find some playmakers (hopefully a good share of JUCOs as well) to help replace this senior class and shore up the roster.

This, that, and the other: All in all, I did enjoy my time back at SU (first time since 2004). I'm glad we can look ahead to a bowl game as well...though, I am a bit concerned with ND pulling out the unexpected win at USC that one Big East team is going to be left at home. My thought here is that in any case, the Pinstripe Bowl is going to invite SU no matter what. But, say UConn loses to USF and WVU takes the Big East Title...would the Pinstripe bowl really pass on both Pitt and UConn to take SU? Should we really root for (*barf*) UConn this weekend? I dunno. I'm a bit worried, but probably for no reason...If I had to guess, it sounds like the Pinstripe Bowl wants us.

Also I've had a great time chatting with everyone on this site this football season. As a football fan first, you won't see me here quite as much through the hoops/lax seasons. Wish I could've made the UConn game instead so I could have met you guys face to face - looks like the tailgate was a success. Best wishes this holiday season to everyone on the board.
