Syracuse Daily Links: Restoring Football Tradition

The Cuse Connection: Syracuse Faces Connecticut in Big East Finale
Connecticut is lead into the Dome Saturday by Jordan Todman, star running back. Todman currently has 1,176 yards in just eight games and 9 rushing touchdowns. Jordan Todman also has 15 catches for 97 yards and is currently the 7th leading rusher in the nation. He is definitely the biggest threat on this offense and needs to be stopped in order for Syracuse to prevail.

Syracuse University Athletics - Bowl-Bound Orange Restore Tradition
"He [HCDM] brought back tradition to Syracuse football," senior defensive tackle Andrew Lewis said. "Before no one really knew the history or tradition without watching the movie 'The Express.' He has made a big foothold for anyone who comes in here to know what Syracuse football is all about, the athletics is all about and the University is all about, on and off the field."

Three Idiots on Sports: It just feels right...
I also cherish this years football team and the outside possibility of Syracuse having a chance to win a conference title. Slap me silly and call me Susan coach! It's been a "Coons Age" since I've enjoyed watching Syracuse football. The years as a season ticket holder, only to be utterly depressed late Saturday evening after our team routinely got embarrassed. I normally drank out of depression during those days, now I drink out of elation and optimism.

SU basketball signs three for 2011 | Daily Orange Sports Blog
Syracuse announced Wednesday that three players in the Class of 2011 have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Orange. High school seniors Rakeem Christmas, Michael Carter-Williams and Trevor Cooney have all chosen to play for SU. The three recruits give Syracuse the No. 10 recruiting class for next season, according to ESPNU. It’s the third best in the Big East, behind St. John’s (No. 3) and Louisville (No. 6).

Dave Rahme of the Syracuse Post-Standard puts together a well deserved photo and video tribute to the Syracuse senior football players who have lived through the worst period of Syracuse football. They will proudly be leaving Syracuse as winners.

One of the key contests in Syracuse's march to the national championship in 1959 was a titanic clash with unbeaten Penn State on Nov. 7, 1959 in University Park, PA. The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 7 and the Orangemen No. 4.

The 20-18 victory propelled Syracuse to the No. 1 in both the AP and UPI polls which they held for the remainder of the season to claim the consensus National Championship. This is the Universal Newsreel account of that contest.
