Doug Marrone Monday Presser: Bowl? What Bowl?

Word_medium

Doug Marrone is in full-on "I don't know what you're talking about, we've got a lot of work to do" mode and that's just find by every Syracuse fan.

TREMENDOUS (0)

NICE JOB (1)

I was happy in the beginning until we had the personal foul, we were rolling right there and were doing a nice job.

The truth is, Marrone can't look ahead like the rest of us. He's going up against a very good UConn team that's getting hot. Not to mention the fact that he wants to really get back at Edsall for running up the score last year. That doesn't just happen. You need to work hard in order to be able to return that kind of favor.

When pressed about what it means to be bowl eligible and to ensure a winning record for the program, Marrone remains stoic and reserved, as you would expect.

"The sense is that I’m happy for the players, the seniors, people in the community, the faculty, and the alumni. I try to tell people all the time that I’m really just doing my job, I don’t look at it as being extraordinary. I’m doing what I was brought here to do. To see people excited about the program and happy, I’m excited about that for them. I’m even more so excited for the players because it is more than just a football game what we play."

I feel like

he’s going to loosen up a little in the off-season when he gives interviews. During the season, I really enjoy his just-the-facts no-nonsense demeanor however.

Seriously

How can you not love this guy’s attitude? He flat out gets it.

And

he seems like the guy that will give out credit when its due. After the BC game, when we have a good idea if are going to the BCS or Pinstripe or Beef, he will say, this team got exactly where I asked them to be after 12 games.

that was the best goal to have, because it had them fighting all the way to seven wins, hell or high water. Im curious to see how the team will deal with their last two games. UConn now wants theirs, and I think BC may be battling for a bowl when they show up too!

I would be fine with a low scoring affair with UConn as long as we put some of their guys out of the game (cleanly)

And we win, thats it.

One of the key contests in Syracuse's march to the national championship in 1959 was a titanic clash with unbeaten Penn State on Nov. 7, 1959 in University Park, PA. The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 7 and the Orangemen No. 4.

The 20-18 victory propelled Syracuse to the No. 1 in both the AP and UPI polls which they held for the remainder of the season to claim the consensus National Championship. This is the Universal Newsreel account of that contest.
