We're Sending Lots Of Kids To The Dome This Weekend

Orange Nation,

A month ago, because of your incredible generosity, we sent 32 kids to the Dome to watch our beloved football team play against Pitt.  The unfortunate outcome of the game didn't diminish the amazing impact of your philanthropy.

I'm proud to announce that because of all of you, we raised enough money to purchase 48 tickets to this Saturday's SU-UCONN game!  The proof is in the pudding:

The order is placed and covers 48 game tickets and 16 parking passes.  Andy G. from the Dome was kind enough to include 16 HCDM signed mini-helmets!

FAQ

Q: What will the fundraising target buy?
A: For each $250 donated, we get: 12 game tickets, a HCDM signed football or mini-helmet, 4 parking passes, assorted SU swag (stickers, etc.)

Q: What if we go over the fundraising target?
A: We can either (1) send additional kids to the game, (2) get the kids some additional swag, like t-shirts or food vouchers, or (3) keep the money in the reserve for the next time we do this.

Q: Which organization(s) will receive my donation?
A: We are all for spreading the love around, so if you would like to suggest an organization, do so in the comments below.  We will finalize by tomorrow, 11/16/2010.  If no other suggestions are made, we will go with the Boys & Girls Club and the SWCC again.

Q: Are the funds being donated to a registered 501(c)(3) organization? Is my donation tax deductible?
A: We are essentially proxying the money as tickets to registered nonprofits, but the account the money goes to initially is not one of a nonprofit.  We are in the process of getting one set up for these efforts, but in the meantime, your donation is probably not tax deductible.  I'd recommend consulting an accountant.  The alternative is to donate directly to the organizations, but we won't be able to efficiently organize the ticket purchasing.

Q: What are the fees associated with donating?
A: The person donating does not pay any fees.  However, we will incur a 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction fee on incoming funds.  The total donated amount will reflect the after-fee amount.  When we get the 501(c)(3) set up, we will pay a reduced 2.2% + $.30 per transaction fee.

Q: Is there a deadline for donating?
A: There is no deadline for donating.  Any funds we collect after the actual ticket purchase date (likely 11/18) will go towards the overage options mentioned above.
