Syracuse Daily Links - Dome Sweet Dome

Carrier Dome, Home of the Syracuse Orange - Stadium Reviews and Sports Travel Community at stadiumjourney.com
While driving on I-81 north on the road to Syracuse, you eventually go around a bend and over a hill and suddenly the city of Syracuse greets your eye for the first time. And during that first glimpse of the Salt City, the Carrier Dome emerges from the hills of Onondaga County, towering above the city on the Syracuse University hill.

Harris, Orange ready to set focus on Rutgers - Sports - Daily Review
"We are just going to take it one game at a time," he said. "We have to try and win one at a time. If we start looking at three total games it will be tough. We just have to look at this week like it's our championship game."

Rutgers-Syracuse not much of a recruiting rivalry yet - On the Banks
The Syracuse program is deservedly getting a lot of positive press right now, and can start thinking about making in-roads here in 2012 with a win this weekend. Marrone and staff have impacted Rutgers by pulling away a few NYC-area signees like Andrew Tiller and Malcolm Cater, and both programs are among the countless staffs dueling it out in Florida.

Boeheim impressed with new players at end of exhibitions - The Daily Orange - Sports
"I thought our big guys came through it very well," Boeheim said. "They were active, doing a lot of good things defensively, offensively. I was very pleased with how those guys played."

Is Taj Smith Returning to The Colts? - Stampede Blue
The Colts cut Andre Brown again. This means there's a roster spot open, and logic suggests a wide receiver will get signed because, currently, the Colts only have three healthy ones on the roster.

Dolphin-Safe | CuseOrange.com
A scorching 11-16 shooting performance from behind the arc. That’s downright gaudy; even if SU went D-II for the year with its current roster, 11-16 wouldn’t be sustainable. The notable parts of that stat, rather, are that six different players made threes for SU, and all six figure to be factors (to varying degrees) in the rotation.

The Cuse Connection: Not This Time LeMoyne!
The 43 point victory did not erase last years embarrassing loss to the small cross town college, however it did relieve any awkwardness that may result from bumping into LeMoyne basketball players at local Chipotle's restaurants.

After Le Moyne's Chris Johnson scores 23, SU concedes he's "tough" | syracuse.com
"It’s always great to play against guys like him, that’s gonna make shots against us in that zone," Jardine said. "Because then when we go watch film, we gotta learn how to play against guys like that. I take my hat off to Chris Johnson and the Le Moyne program."

Mike Waters Previews the 2010-11 SU Hoops Season (Podcast) | syracuse.com
Syracuse Post-Standard beat reporter Mike Waters joined Brent Axe "On the Block" on The Score 1260 in Syracuse to talk about some issues facing the SU hoops squad at the beginning of the season.

The Pursuit of Imperfection | The Awl
Anguish, sloth, goofiness, disgust, unsightly basketball, unseemly rule evasion, delusional fanaticism, maddening inconsistency, frightening sideline behavior, unbridled bitterness. Yep. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Scoop Jardine, James Southerland and Mookie Jones on the Orange's 91-48 exhibition game victory over Le Moyne.

That On The Banks story

had me a little pissed, because for years we dominated NJ recruiting, yet he dismisses us as threatening to come back. And I was going to go over there and state my case, but then realized that he had ZERO comments and no one cares. Its a lot like whats going on with our football programs. No one cares are Rutgers.

One of the key contests in Syracuse's march to the national championship in 1959 was a titanic clash with unbeaten Penn State on Nov. 7, 1959 in University Park, PA. The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 7 and the Orangemen No. 4.

The 20-18 victory propelled Syracuse to the No. 1 in both the AP and UPI polls which they held for the remainder of the season to claim the consensus National Championship. This is the Universal Newsreel account of that contest.
