Daryl Gross Is A Genius

I take back everything bad I've ever said about him.  Check this out...

  • Pete Carroll's out at USC, so they've got a coaching search on their hands.
  • Gross has strong ties to USC AD Mike Garrett so a recommendation from him would carry some weight.
  • Gross recommends former Jets and Chiefs coach Herm Edwards as the next coach of USC Football.

USC also contacted former Kansas City Chiefs coach Herm Edwards, recommended by Syracuse athletic director Daryl Gross, who previously worked under Garrett at USC.

  • This Herm Edwards.  And this Herm Edwards.  And this Herm Edwards. And this Herm Edwards.
  • Syracuse plays USC in 2011.
  • Ergo, USC will hire Herm Edwards and the program will be in such disarray by the time Syracuse comes to town the Orange will defeat the Trojans soundly.  GENIUS.

"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never hire a former Kansas City Chiefs coach when Daryl Gross is involved!" Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha..."

I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

Oh ho, look who knows so much!

As it turns out, Herm Edwards’ career is only MOSTLY dead.

I am frightened by that photo of Herm Edwards.

I am ready for him to bust through my screen and chew my face off with those massive teeth while screaming, “You play to win the game!!”

another gaffe el grande

garret and gross are both like big time smaltzy schleppers. even tho i grew up in sw tier of upstate ny, i worked in manhatten and lived in brooklyn, so i know these yiddish ethnic words!and it goes to show, in between those three musketeers.. nancy, herr doktor gross and the grobmeister.. just how to climb the pinnacles of stupidity. i mean, does serius.. su recruiting ever happen in SoCa.. or washington?the state? non/nein. yet these dimwits and nincompoops actually scheduled games with these pac 10 teams. ok,if u get the chance , why not recruit a ca juco player or 2. but really, who u want to schedule games with is any florida teams.free shoes u, miami.. central florida, florida. exposure to a lot of kids and marketing of your SU product down there. any program in their right mind, would want to recruit at least 4-5 kids a year from florida.and mr blow dry hair cut, usc coach,i figure is out the door anyways, with the sanctions coming.

Sweet, sweet revenge

Herm Edwards to USC would pay them back for Carroll suggesting G-Rob to Gross. I love it.

I'm not sure about that

Herm seems like exactly the kind of guy who’d be a crappy NFL coach and a pretty good college coach.

Herm = Dave Wannestedt

Syracuse '12

Though the few Pitt fans I know feel cursed with Wannestedt

because The Stache is just good enough to make them respectable, but not good enough to actually lead them to anything significant.

Let’s hope that’s what happens to USC.

Hey USC

welcome to the informal introduction of mediocrity, or as the local’s call it – 1991. I love me some Herm though.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J.
