How do we stop Blake Griffin?

<!-- end mod-article-title --> <!-- begin story body -->

One question all of us are wondering-- how are we going to stop the beast that is known as Blake Griffin? I dont have an answer but I have an interesting article that discusses this...

From ESPN Insider--

" The Orange's 2-3 zone has battered shooters in the tourney, holding every opponent since UConn under 70 ppg, after giving up a 71.5 average for the season.

But if they expect it to work against Oklahoma in the Sweet 16, they're kidding themselves. Zones are red meat for Blake Griffin -- he's got 26 double-doubles this season, and against Michigan (the only other pure zone team the Sooners faced this season), Griffin took advantage on the glass, pulling down 17 boards. The 1-3-1 and 2-3 that the Wolverines threw at Griffin did nothing to stop his offensive efficiency, either. He still dropped 33 points on 14-for-20 shooting."

I feel the only way for us to contain him is by using Onuaku and Big Rick to pester him all night long. Body for body we should be able to stick with him im just worried about his athletic ability.

is to go right at his chest, draw the fouls and try to get him on the BENCH!

I was going to suggest we go all “Tonya Harding” on him. But you beat me to it.

Let the record show that I had nothing to do with it.

KRISTOF!

To me, KO is the key to this game. I’m hoping that perhaps he can get under Blake’s skin a little bit; maybe frustrate him by sly little tugs on his jersey here and there, stepping on his feet, etc. BG will get his – it’s all about minimizing the damage. So maybe if Syracuse can tire him out when OK is on defense and body him up on D….then I think Cuse has a great chance.

Besides: they were a #1 in 2003 when the National Championship Express went right through ’em.

Physical play is certainly important.

But Morgan State flipped the dude over during the first round and that didn’t seem to slow Griffin down. (Apparently he’s not a wimp like Thabeet, who got flipped by Blair against Pitt and basically crawled into a hole for the game.)

I just hope this team listens to Boeheim this week. My mind keeps flashing back to the 2003 National Championship. All week long people were talking about how Syracuse would have no answer for Kansas’ fast break offense. I believed it. Then I see on my TV screen Syracuse hustling back on D play after play, running with Kansas and defending the fast break. I have to believe that was Boeheim’s focus during the week leading up to the National Championship, and I know he will have a plan this week for Oklahoma. I just hope the team listens to Jimmy B and can actually act on what he teaches them.

And they need to come out playing as strong as they have the last few games. That’s been fun to watch, and a complete turn around from the beginning of the season.

We don't need to stop Griffin

we need to stop Oklahoma. If he scores 35 and we win, I’m fine with that.

the harangody approach

that seemed to work, Harangody got his, but was frustrated by AO most of the game. However, Griffin is quite a few notches up in class compared to Harangody. AO and Rick are just going to have to make him work hard for his points, limit his high percentage shots and make him take face up jumpers. Looking at some quick stats, OU doesn’t seem to light it up from the perimeter. It looks like it’s going to be a pretty good matchup.

Pretty much what i was gonna say
If we play him like harangody then we have a good chance at this one

it's seems as though

we need to figure out who the 3rd, 4th, or 5th best player on the team is, since they will most likely have a career high against SU.

National Title Game

In that previously mentioned Title game, Collinson put 20/20 on the zone. They still won. Blake Griffin is a great player and is going to get his. The key to this game is to score, score, score. Griffin is going to be a great player, and he is going to get his, but he needs to score.

And Paul Harris needs to get his head out of his ass. When whats his name hit his fifth three from the corner, right before the half was over, did you see Boeheim. Harris lost him, again. Even though they were coming out of a timeout, and I am sure they said “FIND THE ONLY GUY WHO CAN PLAY ON THAT TEAM IN THE CORNER!” Harris drives me nuts. He is so athletically gifted, yet seems to be just lost sometimes.

As I predicted last week

An OU player (Crockett) had a career high against SU…
