Sorry SU Lacrosse, Almost Forgot About You There...

Bad week for #2 Syracuse lacrosse to play #6 Johns Hopkins in terms of awareness among the SU faithful.  We're kinda pre-occupied with this whole "will we play Dayton or Coastal Carolina next week?" thing.  Then again, judging by the attendance expectations SU Athletics is throwing out there, maybe that's a bold-faced lie:

The Syracuse University Department of Athletics and the Carrier Dome staff are encouraging fans to purchase tickets in advance to avoid long lines at the box office when the second-ranked SU men's lacrosse team hosts No. 6 Johns Hopkins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.

Fans are encouraged to visit SUathletics.com to purchase tickets ahead of time and utilize the "Ticketfast" delivery method to obtain their tickets directly after purchase. In addition, fans are encouraged to get to the Carrier Dome early on gameday. Gates will open at 12:30 p.m. in anticipation of a large crowd.

SU-Virginia drew 16K+ and with Hopkins being arguably even more of a hated rival, you can expect the numbers to get up around the same.

Again, the Orange do not expect to have the services of Cody Jamieson when they play the Jays on Saturday.  But exactly what is holding up young Cody's arrival has been a bit of mysterday.  Mum's the word with Desko and the University but Anna McNamara over at Inside Lacrosse might have finally figured it out:

Syracuse attackman Cody Jamieson has remained ineligible this season because of an unresolved waiver request to the NCAA regarding an online class he took during winter break at Cayuga Community College for college credit at SU, Inside Lacrosse has learned.

Apparently the NCAA still has to grant Jamieson his eligibility based on the issue.  Not entirely sure what the hold-up is.  What exactly happens over there that they can't make a decision in, like, five minutes?  I say get the SU Judicial Board involved, Jamieson will get a decision AND someone will be publicly-caned on the quad for insolence.  Win-win. (H/T: Dave Rahme)

As for the guys actually in Orange uniforms, two of them will be awaiting your questions this Friday.  Goalie John Galloway and attackman Stephen Keogh will be on ESPN.com for a live chat at 1pm EST.  You can bookmark the page now in preparation.

Finally, another reason the crowd might be extra big this weekend, the 1989 Syracuse lacrosse team will be honored on the 20th anniversary of their national championship during the game.

The 1989 squad was the second of three consecutive Orange NCAA-title winning teams. Syracuse finished that season with a 14-1 overall record, including a thrilling 13-12 victory against Johns Hopkins in the championship game. Ironically, the 1989 Blue Jays featured a defenseman by the name of Dave Pietramala who will also be in the Dome Saturday as the current head coach of his alma mater.

Awkward....
