Lots of former SU player updates swirling around the Interwebs today. Let's check in.
First off, you have to get the full run-down from Cuse Country who keeps track of this stuff better than anyone else. Plus they make the best Gerry McNamara/Superman photo mash-ups (hard to find a good one). Couple notable things to, uh, note:
Domo arigato, Mister Blackwell Ryan Blackwell is back in Japan for a third season and his impact was pretty much immediate:
Blackwell, who played at Syracuse from 1997 to 2000, has signed with Osaka Evessa, the league's three-time defending champion. In his first game with Osaka on Saturday, Blackwell had 18 points and 10 rebounds. On Sunday, Blackwell registered 21 points and 22 rebounds.
The Man Who Played For Too Many Pro Teams, Demetris Nichols, might actually get the chance to finally play for the team that originally wanted him. Nichols is going to get a tryout with the Knicks as part of New York's search for role players to hold down the fort. Demetris has been toiling in Iowa for the last couple months as part of the D-League's Energy and has been putting up some very strong numbers to boot.
And no check-in is complete without finding out what Matt Gorman is up to. The Sheffield Shark recently gave an interview to the local BBC Radio affiliate. Well la-di-frickin-da. A hosting gig on Masterpiece Theatre can't be far behind.
Finally, the best part of Donte Greene's return to Sacramento? The return of The Donte Greene Show!
