Daily Links - Play Of The Decade

Plays of the decade: Bring that one back to Syracuse | Post-Standard Columnist Sean Kirst's Blog -
A multitude of magazines and newspapers are choosing their greatest sports moments of the decade. Yet as far as I'm concerned - if the criteria is a constellation of guts, celestial talent, good fortune and sheer fate - a team from Syracuse, on the brink of being finished off last spring in a championship game, created a moment that was not just one of the finest in the decade, but among the most amazing in sports history.

Wesley Johnson Leads the Orange Over Seton Hall in Dominating Fashion | Bleacher Report
Wesley Johnson pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds to go along with a team-high 20 points in last night's 80-73 Big East win at Seton Hall. It was a performance that may remind fans of Paul Harris' 27 point, 22 rebound performance in last season's six-overtime Big East Tournament victory over Connecticut—but this was better...a lot better.

Though Light on Stars, Syracuse's Recruiting Class Is Impressive | Bleacher Report
As the product on the field continues to improve, so too will the caliber of players who decide to give Syracuse a shot. In college football, success is the wind that pushes a team to even greater achievement. For now at least, Doug Marrone appears to have the ship heading in the right direction.

Top 5 wins of the decade by Syracuse football team | Orange Football Blog - syracuse.com
There were few victories over the last decade – much less quality victories - that picking five good wins might not seem so difficult. Yet there were moments of shock and awe – even from this past season – that created some signature victories by the Syracuse University football team over the last 10 seasons.

The Per'fesser rarely takes refugees into the Carrier Dome, let alone have them become the starter. But that's exactly what has happened with a player some are calling a Top-5 NBA draft pick. So how did he get here?

The Wolves and Suns have said good bye to Jason Hart, but some other club may say hello | Bud Poliquin -
Jason, who is 31 years old (if you can believe it), has been harder to kill off than a vampire. He’s played for eight (8) of the NBA’s 30 franchises -- Milwaukee, San Antonio, Charlotte, Sacramento, Los Angeles (Clippers), Utah, Denver and Minnesota. And after being traded by the Timberwolves to the Suns on Tuesday, he’s been waived by a ninth -- Phoenix.

Maybe it's because I have a little brother at Cornell, but I can't watch that replay without feeling a little bad for them.

I was going insane when it all happened, but when the dust settled, I realized just how much that must suck. Had it been against Duke or Hopkins (or Virginia or Princeton) I wouldn’t think twice about it however.

Sean Kirst is 100% correct

While The Block was an immeasurably perfect moment for Cuse fans, those final 20 seconds of regulation in the Cornell game were surreal. It was like four miraculous plays in a row as time expired with a National Championship on the line. That replay never gets old for me.

When it happened, I thought I would finally suffer an Orange-inflicted coronary in my own living room, as my girlfriend had been predicting for some time.
