Andy Katz's Daily Word: Recapping the season's first six weeks - ESPN
The Orange had the offseason hype of adding Iowa State transfer Wesley Johnson, but the loss of Jonny Flynn was supposed to be a disruptive force. That wasn't the case at all. Brandon Triche and Scoop Jardine have handled the point guard role quite well. The bigs of Arinze Onuaku and Rick Jackson have been a force at times. The Orange went from a marginal top-25 team to a Big East title tri-favorite and national title contender. Picking Syracuse to win it all doesn't sound nearly as strange as it did a couple of months ago.

The "flop" technique drew national ire first with Shane Battier in the early part of the decade, then J.J. Redick came along with his "offensive flop," in which he kicks his legs out on a jump shot. But even Redick had to make way for the master, Greg Paulus (pictured).

Upstate vs. Downstate game?

How stupid. This is one state. New York. Enough already about the Upstate, Downstate bullshit. You sound like a bunch of Quebec Separatists, and for what reason?

It amazes me how ignorant some people are in Upstate NY, to go as far as they do to separate Upstate from Downstate, and now its a football game.

Only an idiot would want to throw out a world city, in their own state. When does this sink in? The more people complain about NYC from Upstate, the more country bumpkin you look, and that gets you nowhere in this world. You have to USE NYC to your advantage. Which is why Syracuse is playing games at the new Meadowlands Stadium. Whether or not you like it (and it shouldnt be a problem to begin with) Syracuse falls under major influence from NYC, and only a fucking moron wouldnt use it to their advantage.

Its like a poor man who just won the lottery and is rejecting the prize money. I dont understand the logic of some people from Upstate NY. Secede from the state and let Upstate NY become even more irrelevant than it already is and youll have more people leaving. Without NYC in this state, quite frankly, its a joke. Upstate and Downstate are ONE, and its New York.

Dude...

It’s just an allstar game…states have them all the time. Doesn’t mean anything about upstate v. downstate rivalry or anything like that.
