And Mayes Makes 22
A spokesperson for the Syracuse University athletics department said today that sophomore defensive back Grant Mayes has requested and received a release from his scholarship with the Orange football team.
"I was recruiting by Greg Robinson and when Coach Doug Marrone came in I didn’t fit in the scheme of things."

Rumor is that there are several more to come
At some point, this does get a bit disconcerting.
Think we hit that point a month ago

I was fine up until now
When contributing players start leaving, that bothers me.
This kid
was last on the depth chart.
Remember when Josh Wright left? It had a lot to do with him being replaced by a better player. That worked out alright for us. These guys see the recruits who are on campus visiting. They know the coaches dont have any loyalty to them. Mayes was passed on the depth chart by TRUE FRESHMEN. He shouldnt be playing for us.
Agreed
I don’t see a problem at all here, quite frankly.
This is not the one that bothers me...
the names being dangled in rumors do bother me.
My source is online and therefore hearsay upon hearsay, etc.
But he has yet to be wrong on anything…
So what are some of the names being rumored?
I can’t share your trepidation on this at the moment. We have a fulll recruiting offseason ahead of us and plenty of scholarships to offer, so I’m not all that concerned.
I go to his FB page
and see nothing. what am I missing?

McKinnon and Speller
Not great players… but they got P.T. I don’t like seeing guys who played in 2009 leaving.
