dream" big east football conference

this is my take on  what big east football should be for inhanced market value and prestiage.BE west: notre dame, cinci, louisville, pitt, and wvu. lots of natural ohio river geo rivalrys there. east: bring back boston college-(but only if they make a public apology for their dasturdly ways!), su, rutgers(tho i think they should exiled to bratsylvania or bohemia, someplace where all clods from joisey" would be really happening, ala "a couple of wild and crazy guys". as well, keep ct of c ourse, and take your pick of either navy or maryland. big time geo rivals there, rutgers allready in the past few years has been drubbed by their rivals down the 1-95, navy and maryland. i would have to  pick maryland over navy,  unfortunatley. however, if we added maryland, why not make it a 10 team conference by adding both keeping south florida and and adding  navy?? it all sounds logical to me, for tv exposure and marketing, right? in new england and mid atlantic areas, as well as southern midwest

I like the thought.

But Notre Dame will never join the BE. Maybe the Big Ten, but I doubt we could get them. However, this is a “dream” conference as you said, so I’m for it. I think you meant 12 team conference (at the end) though. I count:

1. ND
2. Cincy
3. Pitt
4. WVU
5. Louisville
6. BC
7. SU
8. Rutgers
9. UConn
10. USF
11. Maryland
12. Navy

I say don’t include Navy. Instead bring up Nova. Then you have a Western Div of:

ND, Cincy, WVU, Pitt, Louisville and USF (just cause we need a sixth team there)

And an Eastern Div of:

SU, Rutgers, UConn, Nova, BC, and Maryland

USF is really the odd man out here in terms of geography and possible rivalries, but I’d rather have them than a Navy in the conference. ND aside, this isn’t the most impossible setup for the BE if it wants to progress.

1. Penn State – No way ND joins a league
2. Cincy
3. Pitt
4. WVU
5. Louisville – I think the one team I would drop for ND
6. BC
7. SU
8. Rutgers
9. UConn
10. VT – Swap them for USF which would go to the ACC
11. Maryland
12. Navy

Them make Army and ND affiliate members, meaning they have to schedule 2 or 3 Dream East teams each year if they want to keep their other sports in the league.

That's not a bad setup.

And the VT thing solves the USF problem nicely.

reality....

is that ND has the best of both worlds, big east in basketball, and huge money from independant tv contract. and psu, is not going to change anything, till paterno is out of there. but i think like bc, they have come to rue the day they joined the big 11". they have no natural rivals there at all. dont play pitt anymore. and bc, doesn’travel well with their fans, so no matter how well their football team plays, they keep getting invited out of the acc to really minor bowls in places like tenn. also, as small private catholic school, they have absolutely nada in common even with say wake forest or duke. and have to travel with all their teams all the way south to the carolinas and VA.even georgia . at least with south florida, its good for our recruiting. and the kids on team , including the local florida kids, probabl y love to journey down to tampa area once every couple of years. the reality is that the new commissar should get motivated and make strong overtures to either or both maryland and or navy. and grabbing maryland would be great payback to the ACC. they also have a name"basketball program. and starting out with marvin graves and the guy playing for denver, from a few years ago, we recruit real great talent down in md for lacrosse, football,as well as basket ball. and i believe, from the past few years , we have seen that both rutters and wvu, would be very postive about viewing md as a rival in all sports. the geo factor thing. spare thoughts? the way temple is playing right now, they are looking good in football, great basket ball program. but they could not fill their tiny stadium. and i would love to see us play army every year also. big 11" is totally overated. penn state got beat in their own stadium this year by iowa. and got run over by usc last year in bowl game, michigan is having massive problems. as well as michigan state . and nobody is gonna tell me, that purdue, ind, illinois, mn, et al, are ever gonna be top ten teams . even their top 2" michigan and osu, almost never, ever beat quality teams like usc. and tressel and donatanio of michiganstate are throwbacks to woody hayes era.

tressel?

gonna admit, tho, his teams have played both miami and florida, and beat them this decade in bowl games. but that is a total miss use of that kid from pa , they recruited to play qb at osu. at oregon, south florida, wvu, the kid would be a big time star right now, anyplace they run the spread run opton with some pass.

His choice

He knew before he signed his letter of intent how the offense would be run. It’s not like there wasn’t a TON of footage out there for Ohio St. Pryor probably fell for the recruiting glitz and is now paying the price for it.

Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

My crazy realignment schemes ended up with...

… the “minimal disruption to other conferences” dream Big East:
SU, Rutgers, Penn State, BC, UConn, Pitt, WVU, Cinci, Louisville, Kentucky, ND (we raid two schools from the ACC, one from the Big Ten, turn ND into a full member, and swap USF for Kentucky with the SEC, because they should have football schools and we should have basketball schools)

… the “I’m blowing everything up for twelve ten-team conferences” dream Big East:
Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia

… the “I’m blowing everything up for ten twelve-team conferences” dream Big East:
Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Ohio State, West Virginia, Kentucky, Louisville

… the “I’m going really crazy and setting up 15 eight-team conferences, a ten game football regular season, and a 32-team playoff” dream Big East:
BC, Cincinatti, Connecticut, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia
