I'm not sure how long after this year. I'm year-to-year. The motivation is simple, you start out 0-0. You try to get the team to be as good as they can be year after year. I didn't think I would be coaching this long but here I am."

Jim Boeheim in an ESPN.com chat last week, scaring the pants off on Cuse fans everywhere.

Mother fucker.

Since we’re all dreamers when our team is doing well, I was envisioning Syracuse winning the championship this year and wondering if Jimmy B would then retire. But I thought about the great incoming class next year, and the fact that we’d still have a great team, and I thought, No way. Maybe I was wrong!

I think we all started wondering when it would happen

when they announced that Coach Hopkins would take over once Jimmy B retires.

Hope its not this year. I know the team’s in good hands if he does retire… but it will be very very depressing to see him go when it does happen.

I F*ing LOVE jimmy B

Seriously.

He’s DEFINITELY at my table for the “if you could invite 4 people over for dinner who would they be” – he is # F*ing 1. Pretty much the most badass guy on the face of the earth.

IF we win a NC this year, retiring might not be bad if he is thinking about it.

He would be leaving a solid young team with Hop that features a couple key senior leaders, so Hop can get momentum into his tenure. Not that I want him to leave, but if he is ready it would be a pretty good time for all involved (assuming it’s a good season; don’t want him going out on a low note).

Dudes, chill

He says this every year. He’s going to keep coaching until he wakes up and decides he’s done. Been that way for years now. Every time people ask him about Hopkins and what his plans are for the future, he says something in this vein. No need to freak out.

I guess I sort of figure that JB has been year-to-year for a while now in the sense that he has accomplished a lot. So whenever he decides he doesn’t want to coach any more, he will stop.

When he does step down

Gross will take credit for finding our next coach

I have faith

that he won’t retire until Calhoun does.
