And The Recruits Keep Coming

According to Rivals, the Orange picked up two more commitments over the weekend.

First up is Marquis Spruill, a 6'1", 220 lb linebacker from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia.  Spruill is three-star rated by Rivals and was apparently also considering Temple and Toledo, amongst others.

He's originally from Hillside, NJ  and made 110 tackles for Hillside High School last year, though he did not receive any college offers.  Hence, the decision to attend Fork Union for a year.  It seems to have paid off:

Spruill still doesn't understand why, but he's making up for it now. Spruill took his talents to Fork Union Military Academy, a prep school in Virginia just west of Richmond, and has become a leader of the Blue Devils' defense. The 48th-rated prep school prospect in the nation, according to Rivals.com, has now drawn offers from Syracuse, Temple, James Madison and Hampton.

The second recruit is Gareef Glashen, a 5'10", 167 lb cornerback who runs a 4.43 40.  He's two-star rated by Rivals and Scout. Glashen apparently chose SU over Rutgers, Colorado State, Utah State and FIU.  He also drew interest from Pitt and Ole Miss.

For Glashen, the third Florida commitment for the Orange in the last week, it was about opportunity.

"This is a huge opportunity for me," said Glashen, one of the fastest (4.4) players in Miami-Dade County this season. "There was so much to like about this program and the coaches. I love the direction they are headed in."

You and me both.

Plus

It’s nice that we got another Florida guy, as well as a kid from Jersey (by way of Virginia).

Spruill graduated last year and is currently in prep school, does this mean he’ll enroll at Syracuse in January?
