Cornell Big Red (2-1) @ Syracuse Orange (4-0) GameThread

Cornell Big Red at Syracuse Orange, Nov 24, 2009 7:00 PM EST

Dwight-cornell1_medium

In a matter of days the Orange have gone from under-the-radar to...over-the-radar?  Cornell is the worst kind of opponent right now...a frisky mid-major that can shoot lights out and knows how to play us.  Battle stations, everyone.

Get your last minute game preview and settle in for what should be a great game.  Leave your pre-, in- and post-game comments below.  G'Orange!

as this is frozen

i keep seeing cornell’s score increasing by 3…not good

by chicagocuse on Nov 24, 2009 7:17 PM EST reply actions

if you’re way behind on the feed, hit go live by the volume controls to catch up a bit. 360 feed is behind normally, but it seems like it slowly starts lagging more and more unless you resync by hitting go live.

ok got the feed back

oh god, tim higgings

i guess he hasn’t retired yet

Higgins

reffing? Crap.

Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

it looked like him

making a foul call on rautins on the side line

by MrPlow99 on Nov 24, 2009 7:22 PM EST up reply actions

does that guy live in the area? seriously

by chicagocuse on Nov 24, 2009 7:22 PM EST up reply actions

we won't be able to pull away from cornell

until the refs start calling that illegal screen out top that’s basically cornell’s set play everytime down

by MrPlow99 on Nov 24, 2009 7:29 PM EST reply actions

I like

how b/c of their 3 pt shooting we’re basically playing a 3-2 zone

Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Crowd

needs to get into it. It was very loud in NYC from start to finish

and that’s being generous

by chicagocuse on Nov 24, 2009 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

i guess they never score in 2’s at any time whatsoever

by chicagocuse on Nov 24, 2009 7:45 PM EST reply actions

I say the team just holds hands and forms a curve around the 3 point line.

And see what Cornell does. They don’t seem to be able to even score inside the line even when wide open.

by voteprime on Nov 24, 2009 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

"Nice feed inside"

Right, if Wes could jump a foot higher. But at least he got it in the hoop before time expired.

by voteprime on Nov 24, 2009 7:52 PM EST reply actions

They're zone is playing well, despite the crazy amount of 3s.

And I’m happy with the Cuse offense for the most part.

But Syracuse isn’t getting the rebounds they should and are giving Cornell too many second chances. I think that’s the big difference. We snag a few more of those defensive rebounds and we’re up by 15 right now.

by voteprime on Nov 24, 2009 7:54 PM EST reply actions

yeah

he doesn’t read much, otherwise he would have known that our players don’t believe they’re on a pedestal right now and they knew exactly what they were in for tonight.

by chicagocuse on Nov 24, 2009 8:00 PM EST up reply actions

Only thoughts I'll post until the game's over

Live/Die by 3. Cornell hopefully misses a couple more. And then we will have a couple more chances to get the rebounds we should be getting.

Actually, both teams look pretty good. Would hate to play for or against Cornell come tourney time, as a particularly cold/hot game is lurking at any time.

Didn't

think timmy higs was gonna call that

cornell turnovers

i think our guys realize that they don’t have to collapse the zone so much against these guys

by chicagocuse on Nov 24, 2009 8:22 PM EST reply actions

I thought

for a second we might have a repeat of this

by PoetryInMoten on Nov 24, 2009 8:32 PM EST reply actions

The

best thing I saw from him was the possession where he got the ball, then spent 5 seconds looking for someone else to give the ball to.

Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Unfair Comparison

Craig Forth was at least active around the rim. Not stationary like a windmill

by cuseindahuse on Nov 24, 2009 8:48 PM EST up reply actions

You know. I actually yelled that at him during the game.

our boys are looking tired, just letting cornell have those shots

i realize we’re up by a lot, but i have no desire to see this game end up close

by chrisbee13 on Nov 24, 2009 8:52 PM EST reply actions

ok guys, the game's not over yet

you might want to try rebounding & making crisp passes

next years starting center

DaShonte or Fab Melo ? or Rick Jackson? although gotta think Rick stays at pf

by Brando415 on Nov 24, 2009 8:54 PM EST reply actions

WHY

are we jacking up shots with 25 seconds left on the shot clock?

Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

Time

to sit back and relax until 12/10 when we go to Fla

Phew!

Thought cornell was gonna backdoor cover 13.5!

by brendoh on Nov 24, 2009 8:58 PM EST reply actions

Wow.

I really, really, really thought that Cornell was actually going to win the game. How lucky I was wrong! I seriously thought Cornell was better than both Cal AND UNC coming into tonight.

Manny's Online just started selling SU b-ball replica jerseys

They have eight jersey numbers – Scoop, Wes, Andy, AO, Rick, KrisJo, Triche, and Southerland…

but no jersey for Mookie!

I wonder if that was weighing on his mind tonight.

by ForthCountry on Nov 24, 2009 11:30 PM EST reply actions

Boeheim, chanelling his inner Marrone

"I think our guys did a tremendous job tonight, particularly at the start of the second half, adjusting defensively," Boeheim said.
