otto's army was formed in
2006 by a few members of the classes of 2007 and 2008 it was a way of regulating the line policy outside the dome and is expanded in 2008 to all sports and more philanthropic duties by my friend Darryl and has been handed down now to a member of the class of 2010 who helms it now and frequents this site.

Wow. It’s gotten somewhat hardcore getting good seats then.
When I was a student (graduated ‘04), we’d show up 30-45 minutes before tip and walk down to some good seat 4 or 5 rows behind the basket. We never had to bother with any hassle except when they instituted some wristband for a while, which was still a piece of cake…

hey, is that you Pat?
Anyway, when I was still at school, they posted a really nice article on SUathletics:
http://www.suathletics.com/news/basketball/mbasket/2007/2/25/ottosarmy_022507.asp?path=mbasket?path=mbasket
Also, there was a sweet DO article at the time, too: http://media.www.dailyorange.com/media/storage/paper522/news/2007/02/27/News/Camping.For.Court.Side.Ottos.Army.Orange.Fans.Wait.Days.For.Prize.Seats.At.Last-2744338.shtml

line system really
only applies to the blue seats but people were getting hurt during the run to the seats so we needed a more regulated way of doing it. As much as i loved running to the seats we had some pretty serious injuries

We were the first to do the Gate-E wait.
In ‘03 when they went general admission for the games, we started lining up hours in advance. One day, when campell (Dome Manager) sent an email that we couldn’t line up til an hour before the game due to cold weather, we lined up in the Science building…During classes….with booze.
The first campout was for the Final Four Tickets, I actually have video footage of that. But my senior year in ‘04, it was back to long line waits. A couple brave souls did the camp out thing, but still honored our group’s place on the front left corner, and they sat front right. After my crew graduated, they moved there, that’s why that spot is still prime position.
Also, I was at a game last year and was pleased to see how big the pre-game mosh is. My boy Jeff started that by getting so fired up when hearing “Road to the Final Four” that he just started thrashing us around, and we fought back.
The 'Cuse is in tha house, oh my God oh my God.

i camped out for final 4 tix as well
there weren’t many of us there maybe 20 total maybe i’m in your video..
people who went to the dome a day in advance towards 2006 were losers.. if everyone just got there an hour before or so instead of being babies about sitting first row they wouldn’t create a domino effect pushing it to the point where u need to be at the dome a day in advance for a non-conference game to sit inside of the first 10 rows.. my freshman year (2002-03) you could just stroll up to the dome like 45 min before and find a seat pretty close seat to the acton.
back then life made sense. you DRINK for a few hours and THEN go to the game at 615 for a 7pm start.. and get a quality seat..

Trenton Gaucher is my hero
I have never met this person before in my life, but the following statement has elevated him above some family members in my book:
“Camping out six days before the Georgetown game was worth it because we won.”
Fuck. Yeah.
Also, the fact that a “Beat the shit out of Georgetown” F/B group exists is changing my universe.

There are 2 of them.
I watched SU beat the shit out of the Hoyas on 2-26-07
and
I watched SU beat the shit out of the HOYAS 2-16-08
Hopefully those links will work for you. Otherwise, in Facebook just search for “Beat the Shit Out of Georgetown” and click on “Groups” in the results tabs.
