Oregon Will Hold On To It's Chip Kelly, Thank You Very Much

Fascinating development in the Chip Kelly head coaching saga.  Looks like Mike Belloiti was just stalling when he said the other day that Chip did not have any interviews planned this week even though it was out that he would speak with SU.  Turns out that he will not be interviewing for ANY jobs and will instead be named lady-in-waiting at Oregon.

The University of Oregon has scheduled a 6:30 p.m. (Eastern time) teleconference at which time the school is expected to name offensive coordinator Chip Kelly as its coach in waiting. The Ducks may also announce that head coach Mike Bellotti will eventually move to become athletics director.

Well that's one way to end speculation.  Addicted To Quack has it on good authority that this is indeed the case although the timetable is murky at best.

Well, at least Syracuse was able to make SOMEONE'S coaching situation more stable.  Helluva rapid rise for Kelly who appears destined for coaching stardom.

God dammit.

In other SU-related coaching news, Temple's Al Goden and and Philadelphia Eagles assistant Mark Whipple were interviewed recently while Steve "Did You Hear Rob Konrad Likes Me" Addazio and Doug Marrone are next up for a chat.

Oh and Randy Edsall...he's kinda prefer it if you didn't bring up the whole coaching at SU thing anymore:

"I never spoke to Jim Brown, I never spoke to Floyd Little. I mean it's over man. It's done. Jesus, God, how many times do I have to say it."

Man, he's gonna look back on all of this and laugh when he's introduced as our new coach in two weeks...  Good times.

Couldn’t they have waited at least 4 more hours? I worked hard on the 101 reasons! :-)

So you’re saying there’s a chance…?

Supposedly

The football players already know who the next coach will be. Therefore assuming they already interviewed him. Meaning most likely it would be Mike Locksley.

Looks like we will NOT

be scoring 60+ points any time soon…

Al Golden

I would actually like this guy as a coach. I remember there was a feature about him in the NYT last year about what an energetic, tireless guy he is and apparently he’s a decent recruiter as well. He was compared favorably to Schiano in the article (caveat: the article was written prior to this season)
