Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

East Carolina officials will announce later this afternoon that Skip Holtz has declined interest in the Syracuse University head coaching position."

Nate Summers, Greenville Daily Reflector. Just in case you were holding out for official word. It's not "official official" but it's better than the ECU message board.

Why do all these people seem to be losing interest after meeting with the good DOCTOR? Is he that off putting in person?

Wishful thinking??

Here’s a hope….and this is likely a far-fetched hope….

So I read this: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3762688

and I think, you know, maybe MAYBE because Syracuse hasn’t named its head coach yet that could mean a few things:

(1) Maybe the reason ECU is putting all this press out about Skip H is because ultimately Gross disclosed to him that he was going in another direction (ie wasn’t going to offer him the job) – so as a way to save face, ECU and Holtz hold a presser (aka “DOCTOR Gross special”) to say this publicly.

(2) I look at that article above, and it seems like for whatever reason Auburn doesn’t seem completely convinced by Gill, so maybe they have internal reservations that Gill has given them indications that he is leaning towards the ’Cuse.

So I guess what I’m saying is that it seems like the DOCTOR has something up his sleeve. My guess would be its either Gill or…….the big fish that no one is talking about: Tommy T. I know that the latter scenario is def. far-fetched but MUCH stranger things have happened.

And, you know, it is a little TOO quiet out there…. something serious has gotta be going on behind the scenes. Didn’t someone (Donnie?) say that we’d likely have a decision by the end of the week?

I keep saying this...

Dr. Gross is a micro manager.

Someone who wants full power over the program (thing that any real HC would want) isn’t going to cut it with him.

I hope to be wrong, but the person taking this job is going to be either a HC from small time program (Al Golden) or an assistant HC who has never had full power (Doug Marrone).

A commentor on the Daily Reflector website

claims that “word from up north is that skip holtz wanted a 7 year contract and syracuse offered 5.” Obviously there is no proof of that given, but I’m wondering if anyone here has heard something similar?

As for the possibility of a clandestine TT appointment, I love the thought, but just can’t believe it would happen.

Disgusted...

A feeling something is up? I have a feeling that Dr. Gross is going to screw this up big time. We will end up up with Harvard’s head coach and a few years after be in Division 2.

Dr. Daryll Gross

What bothers me most, more than the grandstanding, more than the throwing his head in every picture or celebration, is the manner in which he crosses his legs.

Jerry Glanville

We should get him out of Portland State and into the Dome…..The Man in Orange awaits!
