Dropped Out: Florida State (#23), West Virginia (#25).
I moved Oklahoma above Texas this week for two reasons. First, while the Oklahoma State game was close, in retrospect the end result was never in doubt. Oklahoma's offense was like a cat toying with the mouse, letting it think it's going to survive for a while, maybe a little while longer than it should have, but eventually you knew it was going to bite in and make the kill. And Oklahoma State was no slouch, that's a pretty solid team. They only lost to Texas by four.
Second, body of work. Oklahoma has wins over ranked opponents like Cincy, TCU and Texas Tech. Texas' non-conference schedule just doesn't come close and the win over Missouri is about to canceled out in the Big 12 Championship.Their win over Oklahoma counts for a lot, but Oklahoma's overall season will be enough to trump it.
And so of course, Oklahoma will go to the Big 12 Championship, lose to Missouri and then Texas will play for the National Title anyway. Hooray BCS!
