The writing\coverage\etc.
Needless to say I enjoyed watching the final quarter and a half of Saturday’s game.
After the game I stayed around and watched the extended ND coverage on nbcsports.com. Great service for ND fans.
In the same sentence the guys in the NBC booth said they were NOT surprised about the outcome of the game… but they WERE surprised that Syracuse won. Hmmm.
I also found it interesting that most of the headline writers wrote passive voice headlines after the game — “ND loses to Syracuse” — instead of active voice “Syracuse Beats ND”
I guess the bigger name school gets first mention in headlines. Is that a newspaper\web writing rule I missed in COM 107?
National news I understand — but I believe Syracuse.com phrased its headlines that way as well… at least in the beginning.
They switched over to “SU beats ND” later in the evening.
SportsCenter this morning
Matt Park makes “Pump up the Volume” with his call of Notre Dame’s last second field goal attempt.
SU is relevant again . . . this time for a good reason.
Of course SU is relevant
… basketball season started. Beating an irrelevant, bad ND team doesn’t suddenly make us good at football, though.
No one said we're good
But its nice to be able to celebrate a nationally-televised victory over a prestigious program.
