Hey
When are you guys coming in to South Bend? I live like 10 minutes from campus and I could give you a few suggestions of where to go.
My relatives from Liverpool are also coming up for the game as well, so I’ll have a pretty big contingent of Orange fans at my tailgater as well. If you’re interested, you can stop by for a few!
I'm not going
but some of the readers are. So any suggestions for them will be appreciated!
Grill a brat for me before the game!
Will do!
Here’s a run down of places to go in South Bend. I’m listing only the places that are in proximity of campus.
Bars:
Corby’s (bar where they filmed Rudy)
Linebacker (literally across the street from campus)
CJ’s Pub (Great hamburgers! Highly recommend)
Legends (bar that is footsteps from the stadium)
Main Street Pub (new and I haven’t been there, so don’t blame me if it sucks)
Buffalo Wild Wings (there’s a downtown SB and a Mishawaka location)
Italian Food:
Parisi’s (great view of the Stadium)
Roco’s (awesome pizza, long-ass wait)
Chinese:
Mandarin House (down the road from campus)
Mexican:
Laesparanza (SP?) Around the block from Mandarin House
Coffee:
Starbucks (every damn corner)
Lula’s Cafe (across the street from the Linebacker)
South Bend Chocolate Co. Cafe (Downtown SB, right next to the College Football HOF)
Take in all the sites on campus. Grotto, Bookstore, Library; A perfect time to venture out for a walk. The pep rally is fun to go to if you haven’t been to one before at ND. There is nothing like a home football weekend in South Bend. It is a great experience.
If you go downtown, the College Football Hall of Fame is there and always has something going on.
College Football Hall of Fame
I went to South Bend when the Orange played there a few years ago. One thing that you must do in South Bend is go to the College Football Hall of Fame! It was an awesome place and we could have spent all day there. We even timed it so we got to visit when the team did. We had a blast watching the athletes play with the hands on exhibits with the other kids that were there. I even caught up with Coach Mac there who seemed to have an awesome story about alot of the stuff there!
If your going to South Bend for the weekend dont miss out on this awesome place!

Worth The Drive...
Went to the game in 2005, and turned a shitty football team road trip into one of the coolest college football weekends ever.
First, when you get up there Friday night, try to sneak into the pep rally at the Joyce Center. The entire friggin community comes out for it, and when you’re a Syracuse football fan, it really makes you appreciate how cool good football can be. It’s the experience. There’s also a sports bar (I forget the name), right to south of the stadium, pretty much on campus.
On Saturday, cross your fingers for a sunny day, but get there early and like weisgipper said, take in campus. The bookstore is packed but really sweet. Make sure you line up near the stadium when the band does the quad walk. When they get close to the stadium, they start chanting “Here comes the Irish!” It gives you chills.
After the game, may sound like a crazy idea, but do the hour and a half drive, and go to Chicago if you’ve never been there before for authentic deep dish pizza at Giordano’s. That’s where my buddies and I went after we got shellacked back in ’05, and it was the best meal we ever had.
