Gregisms 7/30

Seriously, I'm going to have to send Donnie Webb an Edible Arrangement if he keeps this up...

Let's continue showcasing the accidental wit and wisdom of Syracuse coach Greg Robinson as he's interview by the Post-Standard's Donnie Webb...
"I'm not one to say, what is the (optimum weight for Curtis Brinkley). I think the way that he's worked, as hard as he's worked, he's found his level of where he's comfortable."
If you're not the one to say, I'm afraid to ask who is...
"We need to get started. But this is the start of it. It's not about it. It's about doing about it. "
That depends what your definition of "it" is, Senator.
"The goal is to really see there's been an osmosis taking place."
Has osmosis officially taken it's place in the Greg Robinson Catchphrase Hall of Fame? I think so.
"This team has a chance to have a lot of leadership; a lot of leadership, all through out of it."
"All through out of it?" I think we've gone from Gregisms to an entirely new language...Gregish.
"I just think this group has leadership from top to bottom. There's young to fifth year seniors that bring something in that area."
You mean "young seniors," or are we referring to freshman as "younglings" now? Averin Collier is making quite the Padawan learner.
"The expectations that I have for our football team is to all of a sudden blossom and all of our hard work and the struggles and the pain that we've gone through, all of a sudden be rewarded for us."
Syracuse Football: Going Through Puberty in 2008!
"I think there's a quality that runs through this football team and it's called the love of the game of football."
As we all know, the 2001 Orange had 10 wins but HATED the game of football. We never want to win hatefullly again.
"..it's amazing how the decisions that these young people make because they love football, it's amazing how it carries over into their social life, it carries over into their academic life, and at Syracuse, that's very important."
Now it makes sense. Mike Williams and Brandon Gilbeaux hate football.
"When I came here, I had my vision. That's what it is. That's all it is. I think it's coming to fruition in my own mind."
Take solace, Orange fans. Deep inside Greg's frontal lobe, we are National Champions.
"Well, we've got to win. We've got to win football games."
FINALLY. A straight answer.

Need a few moments to unwind? Go back and read Donnie's whole post. Drink every time Greg mentions "young people." You're welcome.

Michael Bluth: You know what you do? You go buy yourself a tape recorder and record yourself for a whole day. You might be surprised at some of your phrasing.

This guy is getting more Knute Rockne every minute. Wonder if he does motivational speeches for medical equipment companies??

Reminds me of that skit that Damon Wayans used to do on "In Living Color". The one where he used big, sometimes made up words.

One of the key contests in Syracuse's march to the national championship in 1959 was a titanic clash with unbeaten Penn State on Nov. 7, 1959 in University Park, PA. The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 7 and the Orangemen No. 4.

The 20-18 victory propelled Syracuse to the No. 1 in both the AP and UPI polls which they held for the remainder of the season to claim the consensus National Championship. This is the Universal Newsreel account of that contest.
