Syracuse Cares Not Of Your Sainthood

Albany's College of Saint Rose is named in honor of Isabel Flores de Oliva, the first Catholic saint of the Americas. She committed acts of self-martyrdom that consisted of perpetual virginity, hunger strikes and sleeping on a "bed constructed of broken glass, stone, potsherds, and thorns."

Yeah, but could she drain the three?

Guess not, as Syracuse crushed everything Saint Rose stood for by beating the college named in her honor 80-71 in an exhibition game on Sunday. According to
SUAthletics, it was feast for the senses for Orange fans. They say Donte' Greene and Eric Devendorf lead the way with 16 points each, Arinze Onuaku and Paul Harris grab ten boards apiece and Jonny Flynn control the offense with nine assists.

Cuse Country wasn't as sparkling in its review of the game but still thought the result was good enough for an exhibition. They noticed Devan Brennan-McBride is likely is the odd man out this season, Kristof Ongenaet might have a little Elvir "No Don't Shoot The Three!" Ovcina in him, Devo is staking his claim as the team scorer and Jonny Flynn is on his way to being the floor general we expect him to be.

After the Orange committed 21 turnovers and missed 11 out of 23 free throw attempts,
Mike Waters noted that the youthful transition of the team is going to take time. Apparently, Jimmy B feels the same way.

"We, or I, have to be patient. They're going to make mistakes and it's going to take time to develop.''

Oh and if you're wondering were Josh Wright was (and if so, hello Josh Wright's mother), he was out with an ankle injury. Syracuse will play one more exhibition on Wednesday against LeMoyne before starting the season hosting Siena in the Preseason NIT next Monday.
