All Eyes On Oden, Durant and Mookie

The NBA Draft is tonight. Just thought I'd give you a heads-up. Might be on TV.
For a draft as hyped as this one has been, one gets the sense it won't be all that exciting. They've already gone and ruined what little excitement remained from the Oden-or-Durant selection that Portland has to make and reported that its 100% Oden (Thanks ESPN. What was it Ned Flanders said about science? Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important Things.)
So really the first half-hour is less about who will be picked but how awkward they will look standing next to David Stern and what crazy outfit their mothers wear.
Okay, I guess that's a silver lining.
But for Syracuse fans, the bigger questions are, when will we hear Demetris Nichols' name called and will we hear Daryl Watkins' name called? Matt Gelb over at the Daily Orange reports that Demetris is expecting to be called in the #30-35 range (Philly, Seattle, Boston, San Antonio, Dallas). I'd love to see Demetris in SA or Dallas and have a shot at a title but the flipside would be a better chance at playing time at the other three places. Interestingly enough, Demetris will be in Dallas tonight following a last-minute workout for the Mavs.
The smart money is that Watkins won't hear his name called tonight. But do expect him to be in uniform this summer, trying to make a roster.
The truth is...nobody knows. Just like the NFL draft and every other sporting event that ESPN has "experts" for. We're all wrong 95% of the time so we should all just sit back and enjoy the awkward hugs, disturbing Stuart Scott interviews, crazy hats worn by mothers, crazy fluorescent suits worn by fathers and the fear in the eyes of the last man in the building to get drafted.
